“His legacy is set in stone,” Celtics legend Paul Pierce adamant about Kevin Durant’s stature being unfazed despite Suns’ heartbreaking first-round loss
The super team of the Suns got swept in the first round of playoffs by the Timberwolves.
Paul Pierce believes Kevin Durant's legacy is safe despite sweep in the first round.
After the Phoenix Suns got swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of playoffs, many raised questions about how it affects Kevin Durant‘s legacy. Some basketball fans even got disrespectful towards KD but NBA veteran and Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce has Durant’s back.
During an episode of Fox’s Undisputed, Paul Pierce took the opportunity to remind the haters about Kevin Durant‘s amazing career so far. The star believes that the Phoenix Suns‘ early exit from the playoffs will not influence the former two time league MVP‘s legacy.
I don't think his legacy needs salvage, I think it's set in stone already. We already recognize him as one of the best ever.Paul Pierce said
Durant got swept in the playoffs for the second time in his 17-year career. The 35-year-old lost to his fan Anthony Edwards while he had star players like Devin Booker and Bradley Beal on his side. It was shocking to see KD helpless throughout the four games, considering his dominance in the league over the years.
Kevin Durant is looking forward to the Suns trio’s next season
The Suns built the super team this season by putting Durant, Booker, and Beal together. Naturally, the expectations from the team’s playoffs this season were at an all-time high. But to fans’ disappointment, the Big 3 could not do much more as they left the postseason in just four games.
Knowing Durant and his history of leaving the teams early, fans expected the star to also part ways with Phoenix. Even many bizarre rumors started rising about the forward joining Steph Curry again, but KD shut down all the talks in the press conference after the recent loss.
Continuity is important. All the great teams in the league thus far has been together for 2-3 years. Minnesotas, Denvers, Bostons, the Lakers, OKCs. A lot of teams have been together for a few years so I'm looking forward to building.Kevin Durant said
Despite facing numerous injury setbacks this season, the Suns trio has shown promise whenever they’ve shared the court. Limited playing time together has hindered their chemistry, but they’ve still managed respectable performances. With more practice and game time, this super team could elevate their game and team to new heights.
