Paul Pierce and co-host shut down possibility of Paul George being threat to Boston Celtics duo
Paul George turned down Los Angeles Clippers $48.8 million option to enter NBA Free Agency.
Paul George and Paul Pierce
Due to the uncertainty surrounding his future with the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul George has become one of the most talked-about NBA players. On the “Get-Up” show on ESPN, NBA expert Brian Windhorst interestingly gave a crucial update about George and his next NBA team, should he choose not to sign a contract extension with the Clippers.
In addition, former Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce shared his views on Paul George if he were to leave the Clippers and the Western Conference in a switch to the Eastern Conference in the NBA. Pierce and his co-host Jason Crowe Sr claimed that George is not the same player anymore and won’t be a threat to the Celtics in the East.
[Paul George] can’t play that dynamic two-way that you getting out of Brown & Tatum. On the Truth Lounge podcast, Paul Pierce’s co-host Jason Crowe Sr said
In addition, Pierce seemingly agreed to his co-host’s words, undermining the Clippers stars’ abilities in the sport. George has been one of the best players in his position in the NBA over the years.
George recently talked about his professional aspirations, which include leading his team to victory in basketball. Money talks in the NBA, though, so if an NBA team in the West or East is willing to give the two-way star something the Clippers cannot, he might decide to opt for a change of teams in the decorated league.
Paul George enters NBA Free Agency for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that Paul George turned down his $48.8 million option to play for the Los Angeles Clippers the next season, putting him among the league’s most sought-after free agents. This previous season, the 34-year-old led the Clippers to the first round of the playoffs with averages of 22.6 points (on 47/41/91 shooting splits), 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
George may accept a four-year contract from the Clippers with a maximum of $221 million. Numerous sources state that they have refused to extend their offer over the $152.4 million, three-year deal that Kawhi Leonard signed during the season. This may be one of the reasons George chose to enter the NBA Free Agency.
It’s interesting to note that many top teams in the East and the West will circle the 9-time NBA All-Star to snap him up for their sides. However, any deal with Paul George won’t be an easy one as his demands need to be met. It remains to be seen now which team Goerge plays for in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.
