LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant have been the most important three superstars of the NBA as it evolves into a new era where social media plays a major part in how the league is viewed.

The league does benefit from the added visibility afforded by social media’s worldwide reach, but at the same time, it has also allowed many to openly criticize players, teams, officials, and even the top executives.

Even Commissioner Adam Silver has talked about how the NBA, in particular, has to deal with the negative narratives, whereas whenever other leagues are discussed, most of it is on the appreciative side.

One of the ways podcasters, analysts, or fans go viral, so that their videos reach a larger-than-usual population, is when they opine on controversial and/or trending topics.

Former NBA champion Paul Pierce, for instance, is trying his best to bring viewers to the podcast, No Fouls Given. After a string of bizarre claims, the 48-year-old has come back for one more.

The man (Curry) has a unanimous MVP while Bron was in his prime… Nobody is getting a unanimous MVP in the Jordan era.

Pierce said

The 10-time All-Star was speaking on this topic after Carmelo Anthony mentioned that Stephen Curry should be thinking about placing himself over LeBron James.

Pierce believes that the Warriors star, with his 3 title wins over his fellow Akron native, and his unanimous league MVP award, should be placed well above the Lakers’ superstar on the all-time list.

Fans bring receipts to show Paul Pierce switching sides

Naturally, this video went viral, and it dawned on fans that Paul Pierce used the unanimous MVP argument to place Stephen Curry over LeBron James.

In response, some fans came up with an older video from when the Boston Celtics great was a regular feature on the show, Ticket & The Truth, hosted by former teammate Kevin Garnett.

That video was from around the time when the Los Angeles Lakers superstar surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

The video shows Pierce starting off by being amazed at what James had accomplished, and he went on to label the 4-time champion as the GOAT of basketball. The Kansas Jayhawk reiterated at the time that nobody was going to pass the Lakers’ superstar’s accomplishments, and that scoring record put him above everyone else.

Now, for him to turn the tables with an opinion based on a unanimous MVP award that Stephen Curry had won long before that video, has fans believing Pierce was now doing anything to garner viewers.

LeBron James’ former teammate showers real praise on Stephen Curry

Unlike what the Celtics legend has been doing of late, the cast of Run It Back, hosted by FanDuel, brought in JR Smith, a former championship-winning teammate of LeBron James, for a discussion.

When debating who was among the best to ever do it, host Chandler Parsons asked the New Jersey native where the Warriors star belonged on the list of top point guards.

Smith placed the 4-time champion as No.1 among point guards, all-time. That is after playing alongside Kyrie Irving, and knowing Curry and his Warriors defeated Smith’s Cavaliers in the NBA Finals thrice.

Smith was speaking out of prejudice and gave an opinion that placed Curry ahead of the likes of Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, and others. He also placed the 37-year-old in the top-10 all-time players list.

As the days go by, it seems these discussions about LeBron James’ place in NBA history, and that of Curry, and other superstars, are going to continue, as those are the topics that fans want to consume.
