Paul Pierce talks hypothetical LeBron James vs Stephen Curry discussion if Warriors win fifth ring
NBA legend Paul Pierce had high praise for Warriros star Stephen Curry going into the 2024-25 NBA Playoffs.

Paul Pierce, Stephen Curry and LeBron James
The Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry are on a march towards the historic 5th NBA title this 2024-25 season. For Curry, this title means everything as he made his feelings clear earlier this season regarding achieving this epic feat. Notably, former Boston Celtics player and NBA legend, Paul Pierce, also chimed in on this matter but had a unique take on it.
In a recent SPEAK episode, Paul Pierce argued strongly that if Curry wins it all with his current Warriors team, he will be included in the discussion of the greatest of all time. He clarified that although many people still believe that LeBron James shaped a large portion of his generation, it’s impossible to dispute how much Curry has triumphed throughout his playing days. He even went so far as to claim that Curry will go toe-to-toe with Michael Jordan.
If Steph Curry wins one more championship—let’s say this year—wins the Finals MVP, we are gonna have some very, very, very, very uncomfortable conversations… In my eyes, he would have won this era with LeBron. So then that tells me… Is he greater than LeBron?… This is going to shake something up. We gonna start putting Steph up there with Michael Jordan.

It’s crucial to remember that Pierce, who faced James during his best playing days with the Boston Celtics, harbors a little prejudice against him. Mostly because the current Lakers legend always got the better of him when they faced each other.
In addition, his opinions are frequently not well-received by league officials. Even though Pierce’s background may cast a shadow over this analysis, it’s difficult to dispute the importance of what he says.
Curry has been a relentless player for the Warriors ever since he made his debut with them. He has an iconic legacy with the franchise, winning 4 NBA titles with them in one of the best eras of the league. So Peirce does have a point. However, one may still argue over the GOAT debate as it is more opinion-based, but we should not rule out Curry entering the iconic conversations if he wins the 5th NBA title.
Jimmy Butler has high praise for Stephen Curry going into the NBA Playoffs
The Warriors’ newest star, Jimmy Butler, has been a great addition to the franchise, performing consistently in attack alongside Stephen Curry. The Warriors acquired him after a dramatic trade deal with the Miami Heat. Since his arrival, the Warriors have turned their season around by qualifying for the NBA Playoffs this season.
Notably, Butler opened up on the importance of playing alongside Curry on the court. He stated that ‘with Curry on your team, ‘ every team has a chance of winning the NBA title.
Jimmy Butler said, “I think any team has a chance when I’m on the team… but I KNOW that EVERY team has a chance if Steph’s on the team.”

Curry and Co. battled it out against the Memphis Grizzlies to secure their playoff qualification. Curry and Butler led in attack for their side. Butler poured in 38 points on 12-of-20 shooting from the field, while Curry scored 37 points despite not having one of his best days.
Stephen Curry diverts his mind from basketball by attending a movie premiere
Even world-class superstars like Stephen Curry also need some time off the court to recharge for the NBA Playoffs. At the Oakland premiere of Sinners, the latest horror movie directed by the celebrated Ryan Coogler, Curry and his spouse, Ayesha Curry, made an unexpected appearance. Celebrities and creatives attended the premiere at the Grand Lake Theatre, but the Warriors’ lead couple stole the show.

Most fans believed that Stephen Curry would lock in, phase out, and immerse himself in game footage for the Golden State Warriors’ April 20 playoff matchup against the Houston Rockets. However, the two-time MVP understands how to strike a balance between life and his sports duties.
