Former World No.2 Paula Badosa recently shared her thoughts on the gender wage gap in tennis. This issue remains a hot topic in sports, especially tennis.

Progress has been made thanks to efforts led by tennis stars like Billie Jean King. While major tournaments have improved, many other tennis events still lag. Badosa has also shared her thoughts on it. She was last seen playing at Wimbledon, where she lost to Donna Vekic in the Round of 16.

I have always been very clear that we are what we generate, regardless of gender. Are there differences? Maybe there are, but because men's tennis generates more than women's, just as in the world of fashion, for example, the opposite occurs between male and female models.
Paula Badosa said to La Vanguardia

Badosa’s comments echo those of Rafael Nadal. The 22-time Grand Slam champion played in Bastad last week. However, Nadal is known for his fair approach and careful words when discussing controversial topics.

In my sport, in fact, it is much more equal than in others, and it doesn't bother me that if the best tennis players generate more, they earn it in proportion. What I can tell you is that between us, although we don't all think the same in this sense, there is a real resonance that makes me very proud.

When asked about equal pay for male and female players, Nadal claimed it was ‘unfair’ that the salaries of males and females are different. He also claimed that both males and females should get equal opportunities, showing a balanced perspective.

Paula Badosa set to skip Paris Olympics

Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz will play doubles together at the Paris Olympics this year, according to the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET). Nadal, who won an Olympic singles gold in 2008 and a doubles gold in 2016, will be joined by Alcaraz, who just won the French Open at Roland Garros. This will be Alcaraz’s first Olympics.

Other Spanish players selected are Pablo Carreno Busta and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Marcel Granollers, who is currently the World No. 2 in doubles, is also part of the team. They will represent Spain in the men’s events.

The women’s team includes Sara Sorribes and Cristina Bucsa. They are Spain’s top-ranked players and the Madrid Open doubles champions. However, Paula Badosa will not participate due to her lower-ranking caused by injuries.

Badosa can only use her protected ranking at two major events. She is expected to use this option for the U.S. Open instead of the Olympics.
