Spanish WTA star and former World No. 2 Paula Badosa has had enough of the criticism over her relationship with fellow tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas. She hit back at her critics who blame her relationship for the issues she faces on the court.

The Spaniard said that while she finds the issue funny sometimes, it feels disrespectful at other times. She said that she could not understand why anyone would link her failures to something happening in her personal life.

Criticism is never easy to manage, although sometimes it even makes us laugh because people don't realize that we are two people who share the same passion. Personally, what bothers me the most is when people talk about other people's realities. I can understand criticism of my professional side, of my tennis, of losing or winning, but linking that to something personal seems disrespectful to me.

The 26-year-old stated that such criticism would be valid if her partner was from a “different world”. She further claimed that it was beneficial for her to be dating someone who is as committed to tennis as her.

With confidence restored, Paula Badosa is aiming high once again

Paula Badosa has reinvented herself after a slump and made it to the fourth round of the Wimbledon Championships, before losing in three sets to Donna Vekic.

Badosa, who suffers from a chronic back problem, withdrew from the Australian Open last year due to an adductor injury. She suffered a stress fracture in the L4 vertebrae before Roland Garros. She tried to make her comeback at Wimbledon but retired in her second-round match and immediately brought her season to an end.

The World No. 65, who has worked hard to return to action this year, has stated that her performance at SW19 this month gave her confidence in her abilities.

This Wimbledon has given me back my faith in myself and has helped me believe that I can be among the best in the world again.

While she wanted to take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics, she failed to qualify due to her WTA ranking. The Spaniard, who could still use her protected ranking at a tournament, will turn her attention to the North American hard court swing, including the US Open.
