I spent eight months on a couch without moving and, of course, all kinds of insecurities and questions appeared without looking for them, like: "What do I do now? Who am I? Am I really worth it?" Until you realize that you are the same as always and that those around you love you for that.

Badosa is a former World No.2 but has dropped to 65th position due to injuries. She has lifted three titles in her singles career, including a WTA 1000 title at Indian Wells.

Paula Badosa says she won’t stop fighting

Doctors advised her to not pick up the racket again, but as she was not ready to live a life outside of the tennis courts, doctors recommended her cortisone injections. Badosa has been injecting herself with cortisone to save her career and recently played Wimbledon. She is not happy with her performance, but she wants to keep playing as long as her body allows her.

When I'm well, I want to be as high as possible again. Of course, I'm not happy where I am now. I'm not going to fool myself. I do know where I come from and everything I'm going through.
Paula Badosa told Elle

At Wimbledon singles events, she made it to the fourth round for the third time. In doubles, she teamed up with Victoria Azarenka, but the pair withdrew from the first round against the team of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Ekaterina Alexandrova

Badosa won’t be representing Spain for the upcoming Olympics. But she is a singles quarterfinalist and reached the second round in doubles in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
