UFC middleweight title contender Paulo Costa is under the spotlight again for using homophobic slurs. ‘Borrachinha’ is never without colorful vocab. This time, he takes the war to The Avengers and Shutter Island actor Mark Ruffalo. That too in support of social media platform X — which Tesla CEO Elon Musk heads up.
Costa is an active X user and even calls himself meme God for his continued trend of funnyman posts. This week, the South American nation called for a ban on X. This was in response to Elon Musk’s refusal to name a litigation representative in the country. Hollywood star Mark Ruffalo soon took to criticizing the negligent behavior.
"@elonmusk showed his total disrespect for Brazilian sovereignty and, in particular, for the judiciary, setting himself up as a true supranational entity and immune to the laws of each country,” de Moraes wrote...Because he is a weird and entitled billionaire tech bro. Tax him HEAVILY.Mark Rufalo via X (@MarkRuffalo)
Brazil’s top judge, Alexandre de Moraes, officially blocked X – after Elon Musk failed to follow the judge’s order. The standing order was to remove accounts from the platform that violated Brazilian law. Musk intends to continue his fight for free speech, calling Moraes an “evil dictator” masquerading as a judge.
Many have suggested using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to circumvent the ban. However, Judge Moraes has imposed a stiff $8,874/day fine for Brazilians caught using this workaround. Surely, X is not worth the risk for most Brazilians. While prominent entities have called shade on the utter disregard by Musk, viral 185lber Paulo Costa comes to the rescue.
U don’t live in 3 wolrd country named Brasil. I do. So u don’t have place of speech. A I do and I said go fu*k youself u f*g.Paulo Costa via X (@BorrachinhaMMA)
As such, the matter in itself is quite viral. Now, seemingly, Costa has borrowed some unhinged charm from Sean Strickland after their UFC 302 pay-per-view showdown. “X” marks the spot, while Costa’s slurs steal the show. It has garnered quite a few responses.
Fans react to Paulo Costa taking the sudden war to Mark Ruffalo
Yet to be billed for his return to action in a bid to snap a two-fight losing skid, Paulo Costa is famous again. For all the wrong reasons, one must add. ‘The Eraser’ often posts memorable and silly juice memes and goofy antics. It ranges from stealing food from Merab Dvalishvili to pitching new custom kits before his fights. X — formerly Twitter, is where Costa finds the most success.
Paulo Costa is among the most active UFC fighters in Brazil on Twitter. He may not always share an active commentary like Jon Jones or Aljamain Sterling. But the self-proclaimed meme God is one of a kind. However, amid the platform’s banning of his native Brazil this weekend, Costa made it clear he won’t be risking the $8,874/day taxation and bid adieu.
Later, he ruffled Ruffalo in a scathing remark for commentary on his homeland. X is out of reach, but the fan-favorite Belo Horizonte native has no intentions of falling out of grace with Elon Musk or the platform. Here’s what fans subsequently think of his remark on Mark Ruffalo.
UFC fighter slamming Hollywood star was on nobody’s bingo card. Still, Ruffalo caught flak for being a “white guy” commenting on Brazil’s problems. Hollywood has turned against Elon Musk in recent years. However, UFC fighters have taken a liking to him. As such, Costa has gone quite viral in advocating for free speech, winning applause at the moment.
