FC Barcelona are on a tremendous run of form under their new manager Hansi Flick as he has made a big transformation in the side’s fortunes. They are dismantling top sides with their knack of finding the back of the net regularly and much of that can be down to the discipline that Flick has brought to the side. Barcelona’s young midfielder, Pedri Gonzalez, recently shed light on the difference in the strictness between Flick and their former manager, Xavi Hernandez.
The Barcelona midfielder said that Xavi would fine the players 5,000 euros if they were late to training by a minute, and the next minute, he would have doubled it. However, Flick has removed the fines and instead said that the players who are late won’t play in the next game.

It has already happened to Jules Kounde once during the ongoing season. Pedri confirmed that Kounde was late to a training session following the Alaves match and hence he faced the punishment for it. He was benched for the next game.
Pedri was once late to a training session under Xavi Hernandez
Pedri was once late to a recovery session after a Champions League match under Xavi. He arrived at his home at 4 a.m. but he still got five minutes late for the training session as his alarm did not work. Pedri opened up about how he was panicking when he saw repeated missed calls from Ferran Torres and the coaching staff.
Since he was five minutes late, he had to pay a large fine. However, the fines were either donated to charity or used to fund team meals. Meanwhile, Barcelona is currently at the top of the La Liga table with 33 points from 12 games, having won 11 matches and lost just one.
The Blaugranas are sixth in the UCL 2024/25 points table with nine points in four games. They have won three games and lost one. On an individual level, Pedri has played 16 games across all competitions so far this season, and has scored three goals, while providing two assists.
