The Class of 2025 has a handful of star players who are capable of having an immediate impact on an NFL team. While the limelight has been on the likes of Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty, Carson Beck, and primarily offensive players, there is a defensive end who will be a menace once he makes it in the league.

That is Penn State’s Abdul Carter. The defensive end recently announced his intention to participate in this year’s NFL Draft and more importantly, he expressed the one team he hopes will draft him.

Abdul Carter hopes to be drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles, an NFC powerhouse. However, his dream may end up being just that, a dream as Philly will not get an opportunity to pick until the late 20s in the first round.

Yeah, for sure; playing for the Eagles would definitely be a dream of mine.

Abdul Carter is viewed as the best player of this draft class

The Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year has had a phenomenal season this year. Carter ended the year with 43 solo tackles, 12 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. His numbers led him to be chosen as an All-America defensive end and the first from the University since Saquon Barkley.

Carter’s talent has caused veteran NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah to hail him as the best player available in this draft class. He is expected to be a top-five pick because of his strength, athleticism, and football IQ. ESPN’s Mel Kiper pits Carter as the 2nd best player of this class. Unfortunately, because of how good he is, Carter will end up on a team that will not necessarily be his first choice.

Originally a linebacker, Abdul Carter made the switch to defensive end this season under the direction of defensive coordinator Tom Allen. That move has turned out to be a blessing in disguise for him as he has thrived at the position.

Abdul Carter is going to be a threat to any NFL team that drafts him. If Philadelphia does trade up to draft him then the threat of him and Jalen Carter on the same defensive line would serve as a nightmare to offenses in the league.
