The injury bug claimed another scalp in the form of Penta on this week’s Raw. He had to forfeit his match against Solo Sikoa after injuring his left shoulder while executing a Hurricanrana on the MFT leader. The Samoan wrestler consequently advanced to the semifinals of ‘The Last Time is Now’ tournament and will face Gunther in the next round.
Circling back to Penta, he has issued a note of gratitude for the fans in his first message since the mishap. The 40-year-old thanked everyone who checked in on him. He added that this injury tested his body and spirit but also awakened the strength that has always shown him the way forward. Taking pride in his Mexican roots, the ex-AEW star affirmed that he’s forged in struggle, honor, and heart.
The man who embodies Cero Miedo didn’t miss out on giving a shout-out to Solo Sikoa for his professionalism and for playing fair. Penta offered his deepest respect to ‘The Street Champion’ and said he recognized his dedication. At last, the former Death Triangle member assured the fans that he’ll be back very soon, stronger, and with a determination to finish what he left pending.

Penta had beaten Finn Balor in a first-round clash on last week’s SmackDown. But was he slated to beat Sikoa as well? According to Dave Meltzer, the former United States Champion would’ve gone on to score a win over Penta regardless of what happened.
WWE's plans WERE NOT forced to change due to Penta's injury on Raw last night, with Solo Sikoa originally planned to win their match and face GUNTHER in the semi-finals of the Last Time is Now Tournament:

The veteran wrestling journalist, however, insisted that the match probably ended 7-8 minutes early, obviously due to the injury incident. A major chunk of the fans was rooting for a match between Penta and Gunther in the semifinals of the ongoing tournament to determine John Cena’s last WWE opponent. However, it wasn’t even in the cards if the aforementioned report is to be believed.
Unclear recovery timeline puts Penta’s WrestleMania 42 participation in jeopardy
It seems like an injury was inevitable for Penta. Shortly after debuting for WWE this year, the former AEW trios champion revealed on an episode of Sheamus‘ Celtic Warrior Workouts that he’d been wrestling with a torn bicep for the past three years. The masked luchador admitted that he never got it fixed and continued wrestling.

While that didn’t cause problems for him back then, the unfortunate had to happen on this week’s Raw. The extent of Penta’s torn bicep is unknown. It could take up to a year for him to get back if he’s forced to undergo surgery. These cases generally take 4-6 months of initial healing, with complete recovery requiring close to one year, as just noted above.

It might take a few more days to monitor Penta and come up with a complete diagnosis for him. Getting injured at this time of the year is extremely unfortunate for any WWE star considering there’s not much time left for WrestleMania. As for Penta, he made his WrestleMania debut this year itself. He competed in a Fatal-4-Way match comprising himself, Bron Breakker, Dominik Mysterio, and Finn Balor for the Intercontinental Championship.
The former Lucha Bros member displayed his wizardry but couldn’t win the title. In essence, it was a perfect learning experience for someone like Penta, who got to perform at The Grandest Stage of Them All just a couple of months after first setting foot in a WWE ring. But will he make it to next year’s WrestleMania? That is the burning question for now.
