Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola disappointingly admitted that he is ‘not good enough’ to manage the side, following their disastrous 2-1 defeat to Manchester United. The 53-year-old cast doubts over his abilities to turn the club’s dismal fortune around.
Cityzens suffered their eighth defeat of the season and are now on a new three match win-less run. This includes a draw against Crystal Palace and a defeat to Juventus.
This has put Pep Guardiola‘s future at the club in uncertainty. Against Manchester United, City took an early lead in the 36th minute through Josko Gvardiol. However, the Red Devils staged a brilliant comeback in the dying minutes, thanks to City’s poor defense. Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo scored to help United claim an unlikely derby win.
Accepting full responsibility for City’s continued poor run of form, Pep Guardiola surprisingly exclaimed that he is not that good enough anymore. The Spaniard added that something is wrong with the club. He also refused to blame injuries as a reason for City’s poor run.
Moreover, he highlighted the importance of composure and calm, claiming that his players have lacked it throughout the season. In spite of the criticism, Guardiola expressed his intent to continue trying, until the club regained its old form.

Pep Guardiola’s admission does reflect that Manchester City have fallen back in the EPL title race this season. The club now remains in the 5th position on the EPL table with 27 points from 16 matches. They are way behind league leaders Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola admits that his Manchester City job is ‘not secure’
Six-time EPL winning manager Pep Guardiola also revealed that his Manchester City job is not secure, owing to the club’s poor run. City have lost eight out of their 11 matches, suffering as many defeats as they did in their last 105 matches combined.
Despite signing a new two-year contract extension, Guardiola admitted that his managerial position is not assured. While pointing out to the club’s recent struggles, the Spaniard stated that he would regret it if he was sacked now.
However, he added that the owners could remove him, in case the situation at the club turns worse and unsustainable. He stated he might be shown the way out in case of a bad season.
It will be an uphill task for Man City to return to form, as they lag behind in the Champions League as well. They lie in the 22nd position on the table with eight points and remain just one point off of the elimination spots.
