Manchester City have been at the heart of controversy for a long time running, be it FFP regulations or their 115 charges. As the 2024/25 Premier League season picks up pace, City are forced to face their fate with the commencement of their trial regarding the alleged charges. Manager Pep Guardiola did not seem very pleased after a reporter questioned him about the same in a recent press conference.

Guardiola has been at City since the 2016/17 season and is by far their most successful manager. However, many argue that the club has bought its way to success, with unrestricted access to top talent and world-class staff. When asked about the trial and whether there is any discussion about the same in the dressing room, Guardiola bluntly claimed that he isn’t a lawyer.

I'm not a lawyer, Erling is not a lawyer. We do not talk about it in the dressing room and I don't talk to players about it. I know what the people are expecting but everyone is innocent until proven guilty, so let's see.

Speaking of the Premier League season, the 53-year-old has ensured that City are top of the table with three wins in their opening three games.

Many fans on social media have criticized Tebas for ‘speaking too much’ and having an agenda against the Cityzens. On the other hand, others are convinced that City is indeed guilty of the alleged breaches.

In response to Tebas’ comments, Pep Guardiola went on the record to state that Tebas may in fact be right and hoped it’s the last time he agreed with the latter. If found guilty, City will face dire consequences, with a demotion to the Championship on the cards. Guardiola earlier stated that he will not leave the club no matter what punishment they end up being dealt.
