Pep Guardiola was at a loss for words to praise Manchester City front-man Erling Haaland, who scored a brilliant hat-trick in a 3-1 win over West Ham United. The Norwegian forward struck his second consecutive hat-trick in three Premier League matches this season.
After having won the Premier League Golden Boot two seasons in a row, Erling Haaland is back and running this season. Having already scored a hat-trick against Ipswich Town, the 24-year-old forward took his tally to seven goals in just three matches with a treble against West Ham. This also takes him closer to the 100 goal mark for Man City, that can make him the fastest to achieve this record. He has already scored 97 goals in just 102 appearances since signing in 2022 from Dortmund.
Following the Norwegian’s eighth EPL hat-trick, manager Pep Guardiola spoke to the media, praising his star player, while also exclaiming that he had no words to describe his talent. The Spaniard also urged his players to provide Haaland with more scoring opportunities through passes inside the box. He also labeled the former Dortmund forward as unstoppable, while also asserting that no defender currently holds the capacity to out-pace or even stop the forward.
He's playing much better in everything. What he needs is the team to give him more balls in the final third.. He's unstoppable, there's no central defender, not even with a gun to stop him.Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland after his hat-trick (H/T: The Guardian)

Haaland’s seven goals in just three matches this season puts him way ahead of Bryan Mbeumo and Noni Madueke, who have scored three goals each, this season. The 24-year-old now enjoys a brilliant xG of 1.61 goals per 90 minutes.
Pep Guardiola admits Manchester City ‘made a mistake’ by selling Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola surprisingly admitted that the club might have made a mistake by allowing Julian Alvarez to depart. The 24-year-old forward left to join Atletico Madrid for a massive transfer fee worth £81 million, making him the most expensive signing this summer.
The Argentinean forward who had scored 36 goals in 103 appearances for City, decided to leave in order to get more playing time after being reduced to second fiddle behind Erling Haaland. Guardiola was keen to retain the forward, and wanted him as a back-up to Haaland. Moreover, he also claimed that he disliked players departing without playing longer stints with the team.
I’m happy with the squad. So, we didn't expect Julian was leaving. Well, expect, I don't know because he had conversations for a long time with clubs, his agent, so it happened but at the end.Pep Guardiola on Julain Alvarez’s departure (H/T: Daily Mail)
The club has, however, brought in Ilkay Gundogan and Brazilian winger Savinho, in order to fill the void left by the forward. They also have Norwegian forward Oscar Bobb, who is recovering from an injury.
