Pep Guardiola gives injury updates on two key players ahead of Borussia Dortmund test

Manchester City succumbed to a shock defeat to ten men Leeds United in the Premier League over the weekend. They will be facing Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League next.

Manchester City reported before Leeds United that Sergio Aguero “misses out due to injury” while Aymeric Laporte is also absent because he is “short of full fitness”.

Both Sergio Aguero and Aymric Laporte were short of full fitness for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Leeds, and thus missed out on selection.

Pep Guardiola admitted that he was unsure if the pair would return in time for Wednesday’s Champions League match against Dortmund away. However he did say that they would release a statement on Monday.

“I don’t know right now ( if Aguero and Aymric Laporte would be available for Borussia Dortmund.On Monday we will know it.”

Laporte had problems yesterday [Friday] in the hips and doctors said he could not play,” Guardiola had said before the game.

Manchester City should be able to call upon Aymeric Laporte for the Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund after he returned to training on Monday.

His return will be a huge boost to the Manchester City back line. They are currently winning 2-1 after the first leg. But Borussia Dortmund have got the all important away goal.
