Pep Guardiola insists that Manchester City do not have any advantage in the Derby
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has stressed on the fact that his side do bo hold any advantage going into the Manchester derby next weekend in the Premier League.
City have already secured early qualification in the UEFA Champions League and speculations are that a number of key players will be rested before next weekend’s mega clash against the Reds.
Pep Guardiola wary ahead of Manchester Derby
Pep Guardiola says that they must be wary of Manchester United’s quality and not be overconfident. Even though City have secured early qualification it doesn’t guarantee them a win under the circumstances.
Manchester City went on to a comfortable 2-0 win against Fulham in the Premier League. Their counterparts on the ithe thanks had to work hard for a comeback at West Ham United.
I’m pretty sure it’s a derby and we will focus and commit and this means the players are not tired, completely the opposite,” Guardiola said.
We are better than one month ago but that is normal. Without preparation, without time, it’s normal what happened.
“What’s important is that we are not far away from the top of the league and already qualified for the next round [of the Champions League]. This is important. Now we want to continue being there.”
Guardiola adds that his team have settled in much better and are looking the part at the moment. City did have a few obstacles at the start especially the 5-2 thumping from Leicester City.
Moreover while Guardiola will have the luxury of resting players, Ole Gunnar will have to play his full squad in a deciding matcha against RB Leipzig.
This is a bonus for Manchester City who for sure will have fresher and more energized players.
