Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has never been one to underestimate his opponents. It is characteristic of the Spaniard to give high praise for his opponents while knowing very well that his team are favorites to win any competition they are part of. Manchester City pulled off an impressive draw against Spanish giants Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Days after his side were in full flow against the 14-time UCL Champions, he went on the record to state that his men were in big trouble for the second leg.

Take a look at our games and you realize. We are in big, big trouble. I had the feeling we were tired in the last games. We'll decide on Saturday what we have to do.
Pep Guardiola said in a press conference

As Guardiola’s men remain in the thick of the competition for both the Premier League as well as the UEFA Champions League, fatigue and injuries will play a crucial role. From player burnout to untimely injuries, the absence of Kyle Walker, John Stones and others will come as a late blow for the Cityzens.

Man City star Rodri admits that he needs a ‘break’

Pep Guardiola, in times of need, has more than often looked up to Spanish midfielder Rodri. As has been the case on many occasions, the City No. 16 has come up clutch for his club, and despite an impressive display against Real Madrid in the first leg, looked rather fatigued. Following the game, the midfielder went on the record to state that he needs some ‘rest’ if he is to perform at his very best.

Every one of us can do better but we need rest to be honest. I do need a rest. Sometimes, it is what it is.
Rodri said in a press conference following the game against Real Madrid

The midfielder has been impressive for both club and country, having not lost a single game in his last 66 outings.

As Man City prepare to make a historic bid for back-to-back treble-winning seasons, his involvement will be paramount if they are to actually do so. Folding Rodri’s woeful admission, manager Pep Guardiola has acknowledged his request.

The City boss has stated that Rodri will be rested if he is, in fact, asking for it. Guardiola, however, acknowledged that it will be difficult to do so, given his team’s injury record and importance of upcoming fixtures.
