Premier League champions Manchester City are on course to defend their title yet again. The Cityzens kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 win over Chelsea and are set to take on newly promoted side Ipswich Town on Saturday. As the new season starts to pick up pace, City are forced to atone for their ‘sins’ of the past as the trial date for their alleged 115 charges comes close.
Pep Guardiola was recently quizzed about the same as he took part in a press conference ahead of matchday 2 in the Premier League.
I'm happy it starts soon and hopefully it finishes soon. For the benefit of the club and all the others that didn't want to wait till sentencing.Pep Guardiola told the press via HaytersTV
The manager has earlier stated his allegiance to the club and claimed that he won’t be leaving them even if they get relegated to the Championship.
Several fans commented that City will eventually be cleared of all charges, while others called them cheats. A few hoped that City would be penalized for the alleged charges, although nothing can be said for sure prior to the verdict next month.
Premier League CEO Richard Masters also said that the verdict coming soon will only benefit all the parties involved.
Guardiola names Premier League side that has him ‘trembling’ ahead of matchup
It is safe to say that no club in the Premier League instills fear in the hearts of their opponents, much like Manchester City. The Cityzens only lost a total of three games in the English top flight in the 2023–24 season. In a recent interview, Pep Guardiola named a side that he is afraid of facing.

Even though the team in question finished seventh in the league in the previous campaign, Guardiola is convinced that their situation will enable them to be ‘unbeatable’.
Newcastle (United) will be back because it’s one game a week. Their physicality and energy will have us trembling when we play against them.
Pep Guardiola said in a press conference
The Spaniard argued that them playing a single game in a week, coupled with the fact that they do not have European games to worry about, will give Newcastle United an edge. City won three of the last four meetings between the sides, with the latest result being a 2-0 win for the Cityzens in the FA Cup quarterfinals. As things stand, City are fourth in the table going into matchday 2.
