If there’s anyone who can handle a press conference with confidence, it’s Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard seldom holds back when speaking to the press and that was the case on Friday night as the tactician opened up about the spending habits of his side’s League rivals.
Even though City have spent significant amounts in the transfer market in recent seasons, it can be seen that Manchester United and Arsenal haven’t been far behind.

The 53-year-old also expressed his concern about City’s rivals getting ‘better and better‘ with every passing year. He highlighted how Arsenal was at their level last season and noted their recent demolition of Bayer Leverkusen.
He also assured that Manchester United will return to the where they belong as a club after making significant signings in the transfer market.
Guardiola insists that City will not ‘overspend’ on transfer targets
If there’s any club that can get what they want in the transfer market, it’s Manchester City. However, the situation in Europe has been so unpredictable that even City are held to ransom at times. The Cityzens are in the market for a central midfielder and a striker with the recent departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid.

City have stayed true to their words, with the club backing out of their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes after the club’s asking price of £100 million. City, however, did amazing business as they managed to offload their back-up striker for a fee amounting to more than €95 million!
The club have also made profits from the departure of Sergio Gomez to Real Sociedad and Liam Delap to Ipswich Town. Pep Guardiola expressed his relief at the fact that Ederson Moraes has opted to remain at the Etihad rather than force a move to the Saudi Pro League.
The Spaniard, however, was rather blunt in his assessment of Alvarez’s move and simply wished him the best for the future. City have also been linked with Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.
