It appears that Pete Dunne‘s past as Butch has not stopped haunting him, even after nearly a full year of ditching his previous name. He has now entered into an interesting mid-card rivalry with R-Truth. The 52-year-old, still confused and forgetful as he always was, is having quite some trouble separating the British superstar’s two different personas.
Dunne has repeatedly stated in the past that he does not like to be referred by that name. Thus, to settle their differences, the two superstars will be facing each other in the squared circle next week on Raw. WWE announced this match on their official X account. It seems that even they were confused about what to call the 31-year-old, who clearly got upset by this.
These two superstars also had a backstage confrontation last week on Raw. R-Truth was hiding and seemed scared of Butch. However, he said that he wanted to take him on standing side-by-side with Pete Dunne. The latter flipped out and got annoyed, thus challenging him to their scheduled match on Monday.

Dunne was re-packaged as Butch when he joined SmackDown in 2022. He was also inserted into a faction alongside Ridge Holland and Sheamus called the Brawling Brutes. The group fell apart naturally shortly after the Celtic Warrior got injured. However, the English superstar believed that this almost killed his career. Thus, he betrayed his friend and mentor.
R-Truth sends a message to Pete Dunne ahead of their bout on Monday Night Raw
Even after this match was announced, R-Truth was still not clear that Butch and Pete Dunne were the same individuals. Ahead of their bout on Raw, the wrestling veteran sent a message to the former WWE UK Champion, appreciating him for wanting to be in his corner.

However, Truth said that he wanted to take on their common foe all on his own. They were the good guys, after all, and thus, he did not want an unfair 2 on 1 advantage against Butch. Pete Dunne replied to this tweet, seemingly utterly confused about what the former 24/7 Champion was trying to say.

It would be highly interesting to see how this match will play out next week. Fans are dying to know if Truth will finally find out the truth, or still refuse to put his hand on his rival due to the confusion. Meanwhile, Dunne is clearly not playing any games and would want to take his opponent out.
