The 2028 Olympics in the USA will see the induction of flag football as one of the major sports. Peyton Manning, a long-time advocate of the sport, expressed his desire to coach the national team if the opportunity presented itself.

The five-time NFL MVP isn’t the only one with ambitions of representing the country in flag football. So far, NFL athletes Tyreek Hill, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons have openly voiced a chance of playing the game in the Olympics.

Even Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce want a piece of it as well, even though they very well know they will not meet the age criteria. However, they want to be part of the coaching team.

The Kelce brothers have stiff competition in the form of Peyton Manning, who was on the recent episode of the Pat McAfee Show.

You learn the game differently. You definitely are the… congratulations! to coach of the United States flag football team in the 2028 Olympics, Peyton Manning.
Host Pat McAfee told the 48-year-old

Manning could only grin at McAfee’s assessment. He wants to be the USA flag football coach but dreads past deeds, citing his two losses against his brother and former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning in Pro Bowls.

I was probably a better coach of our youth flag football team [here] in Denver than I’d been at the Pro Bowl. I’m 0-2 as the Pro Bowl coach to Eli [Manning]. … I’d like to be a coach on [the U.S.] team [but] there’s no way I’m getting picked now that Eli’s beat me twice.

Peyton Manning suggested Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan’s names for coaching the Flag Football team

Even though he would welcome the chance to coach the USA flag football team at the 2028 Olympics, Manning suggested two candidates better suited for the job.

The two-time Super Bowl winner mentioned San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay. In Manning’s eyes, both are equally qualified for the job.

Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay… more qualified. I'd be curious how many NFL teams let their coaches or players miss training camp to go participate in the Olympics, just to add something else to Roger Goodell's plate.
Peyton Manning said

Manning has diversified his interests following his retirement from football. Not only does he co-host ESPN’s Monday Night Manningcast with his brother Eli, but the two-time Super Bowl winner also collaborated with Netflix to produce the NFL miniseries ‘Quarterback’ and ‘Receiver.
