On the last day of Michael Rubin’s Fanatic Fest, Peyton Manning was the guest speaker while Stephen A. Smith hosted the show. The Hall of Famer discussed several topics, including shocking the crowd with his Top 5 NFL quarterback list.
Each year before the start of the new season, every fan wants to know what the retired pros think about the current crop of players—especially the quarterbacks. There’s always that one player who becomes the talking point, which is why Manning did not want to reveal his.
Smith continued to pressure the two-time Super Bowl winner, and eventually, he caved. However, this time it wasn’t the players whom he included; rather, the names that did not appear became the headline.
Where is Brock Purdy? The same Purdy who led the San Francisco 49ers to consecutive NFC title games, winning one and reaching the Super Bowl.

Peyton Manning’s reason behind his top-5 QB list
Patrick Mahomes being #1 is a no-brainer. He is a 2x NFL MVP, 3x Super Bowl winner, and MVP with the chance of securing a three-peat.
According to Peyton Manning, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback possessed all the abilities, but he truly blossomed to be the best because of learning under head coach Andy Reid.
Quarterbacks need to be coached hard. Andy Reid coaches Patrick Mahomes hard, and that's good for Patrick [Mahomes]. That's bad for NFL defenses. So, Patrick's number one overall. But rankings are so hard. You get in so much trouble and [people] get mad about that.Peyton Manning said
Manning’s second pick was Cincinnati Bengals sharpshooter Joe Burrow, who also made it onto Dan Orlovsky’s list as well.

The surprise inclusion in the list was Los Angeles Chargers, Justin Herbert. The former first-round pick has yet to truly show his college-level numbers in the NFL, but he still holds several rookie records: passing touchdowns (31), total touchdowns (36), most 300-yard passing games (8), most completions (396) and most games with at least 3 touchdown passes (6). Perhaps that’s the reason Manning said Herbert has a great arm.
A list without reigning NFL MVP and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is incomplete. The 27-year-old’s unique dual-threat ability gives him an advantage over every other quarterback in the NFL.

Last but not least, Josh Allen from Buffalo, whom Manning dubbed a ‘total stud.’

The exclusion of Brock Purdy is debatable, but adding Herbert over him, who is 30-32 in his NFL career, or even Aaron Rodgers or Matthew Stafford, is bound to create much controversy.
