PFL makes a big move as they sign a multi-year broadcasting deal with ESPN

PFL will stream on ESPN

PFL signs a deal with ESPN! UFC is the biggest fighting promotion in the world right now. Their president Dana White joined the company back in 2001, and with his unique vision, he took to different heights, and made it one of the most successful fighting promotions, completely crushing its competitors.

UFC acquired the best talents from all around the world, but in recent times other organizations such as The Bellator MMA, One Championship, and the PFL picked up the pace and made their presence known in the MMA community. UFC airs their PPVs and Fight Nights on ESPN, and this made them widely available to users from all around the world.

MMA reporter, Jedi Goodman reporter that PFL signed a major deal with ESPN, and they will air their events on ESPN as well, he wrote, “The entire 2022 PFL playoffs and majority of regular season events will air live on ESPN, already home to the UFC, and simulcast on ESPN+ with additional event coverage broadcast on ESPN2. ESPN platforms will carry pre and post-event coverage and exclusive PFL content along the lines of last year’s four-part series on Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields’ PFL debut and quest to become an MMA world champion.”

“They will also push into pay-per-view. The agreement runs through 2023 with an option to extend, PFL CEO Peter Murray told Deadline. Under the previous deal, more events aired on ESPN2 than ESPN proper and not all were simulcast on ESPN+. PFL events will also run on ESPN Deportes and on TSN, ESPN’s Canadian stand-in.”

With UFC increasing their PPV rates, PFL might take full advantage of this opportunity to build their fan base

UFC has again hiked the price of pay-per-view events by $5. With the start of 2022, UFC fans who want to purchase Pay-per-view events on ESPN+ now have to pay $74.99. An increase in PPV events has automatically increased the price for those who purchase the ESPN+ PPV annual package. The revised price of the PPV annual subscription is going from $89.98 to $99.98.

With the new PPV price prices, UFC has increased the amount for the third time in recent years. The new price is $5 higher than 2021 which was $69.99, the 2021 rate was again $5 higher from 2019 and 2018 which was $64.99. The price hike is ridiculous, and most of the fans can’t afford it. With Professional Fighters League coming into the picture, we might as well see a major shift happening in the near future.
