The 2025 Ryder Cup is finally here. The biennial tournament between Team USA and Team Europe will kick off on Friday, September 26th. Ahead of this event, Phil Mickelson shared a heartfelt message to Keegan Bradley and the US players.
This year, Bradley has been assigned the task of leading the team. He was appointed as the captain last year and named as the person to succeed Zach Johnson. The former Masters Champion was relieved of his duties following a massive 16.5-11.5 loss in Rome in 2023.
Bradley, who has been part of Team USA before, was not part of the 2023 squad. He did not finish in the top 6 automatic qualification spots and was not selected as one of the 6 picks by Johnson.
As he gets ready to taste the role of captaincy, one of his former Ryder Cup partners, Phil Mickelson, sent him a message. The 6-time major champion took to his X account and shared a supportive message towards Bradley and the other members of Team USA.

Mickelson is one of the biggest names in Ryder Cup history. The ‘Lefty‘ has taken part in this prestigious tournament 12 times and has helped his team to 3 victories.
He is the third-highest point scorer for Team USA with 21.5 points and has an 18-22-7 record in his 47 matches in this competition. Mickelson’s last appearance in this event came in 2018, when he was picked as a captain’s pick by Jim Furyk. In that edition, Team Europe ran out as 17.5-10.5 winners in Great Britian.
Keegan Bradley lights up crowd at Bethpage by showing love for Team USA
Ahead of the 45th Ryder Cup, USA captain lighted up the crowd at Bethpage Black Course in New York by showing his love for his country. The 39-year-old would pump the fans with a while running across the playing field with a giant US flag in his hand.

On Thursday, there were several fans at the course to watch the practice sessions. The crowd continued to raise their voice in support of the hosts and several times heckled the European side.
During this, Bradley would borrow a flag from a fan and started running across the 18th fairway. The US captain would then wave the giant flag for the fans, which would lead to huge cheers and applause from the crowd.

English broadcaster Piers Morgan would later throw shade at Bradley. In a post on X, he would term the 2011 PGA Championship winner as “annoying‘ for running with his country flag.
God, he’s so annoying.

Keegan Bradley claimed coming back to Bethpage as USA Captain was beyond his wildest dreams
Keegan Bradley has a huge history at the Bethpage Course. The 8-time PGA Tour winner, who was born in Vermont, has a special connection to his course. During the press conference on Wednesday he would get a bit emotional and expressed that coming back to this course as the captain of Team USA was beyond his wildest dreams.

During his time at St. John University, Bradley got the opportunity to play on this course. Due to his college coach Frank Darby, Bradley and his teammates would get the chance to play at this course on Monday when it was closed for the public.
The golfers were only allowed to play through holes 3 and 14, though. One day, Bradley and his teammate George Zolotas, broke the rules and decided to play holes 15 through 18. While they did get in some trouble for that, it remained as one of the best memories for the US Captain.
This week, he returns to this course as the captain of Team USA. While reflecting on it, he would share a strong message to the fans.
I came to Bethpage as an 18-year-old kid with a dream, but I never got this far in it. To come back here as a Ryder Cup captain is beyond my wildest dreams. Bethpage Black is known as the People’s Country Club. It’s been called New York’s home course. But this week, with your passion and your energy, you’re going to make it America’s home course.
