Jackson Koivun is one name that has attracted a lot of interest in golf recently. The amateur golfer had an incredible showing at the recent Procore Championship. Phil Mickelson would drop some high praise on him and throw in a playful LIV Golf jab.
Koivun was one of the 4 amateurs who were playing in this PGA Tour event. In a tournament that was headlined by 10 of the 12 Ryder Cup members of Team USA, Koivun showcased his talent.
He shot 67 and 66 to make the cut and then fired 68 on Saturday to remain in contention for the title. In the final round, the 20-year-old lost some track on the back nine as he made bogeys on the 12th and 13th holes.
He did bounce back from this and made birdies on the 15th and 16th holes and eventually finished the round with a score of 71. His 16-under par score saw him finish T4 alongside Emiliano Grillo and 3 shots behind World No.1 Scottie Scheffler.
This was his 6th cut in the 7 PGA Tour events he had played. It was also his 3rd straight top-10 finish. This made Koivun the first amateur to have 3 successive top-10 finishes on the tour since Hall of Famer Ken Venturi in 1956.

He, however, admits to being shaken by the reactions of those who supported Tyler Robinson, the suspect in this case.
The number of people supporting Tyler Robinson’s appalling behavior has opened my eyes to a side of extremism with a moral superiority complex that has also shaken my belief in people in general. I hope they are held accountable for their disgusting rhetoric.
