LIV Golfer and 57-time winner, Phil Mickelson recently shared his thoughts after Keegan Bradley was selected as the captain of U.S. Team at Ryder Cup 2025. This decision originally came as a surprise to many, and Mickelson was no different.

The veteran, who has a 4-1-0 record playing alongside Bradley in past Ryder Cups, admitted he was caught off guard by the selection. He shared his thoughts in a recent interview with HyFlyers.

I was surprised at the pick and I think it's a great pick, The more I think about it. He played a lot of golf at Bethpage. When he went to St. John's, his passion for the Ryder Cup is greater than just about any player I've ever seen.

Mickelson also praised Bradley’s deep passion for the Ryder Cup and predicted that he would lead the team with that same fervor. Mickelson shared his happiness for Bradley, acknowledging how difficult it was for him not to be part of the team the previous year.

His love for the Ryder Cup is more than anybody I know and I think he’s gonna lead with that type of passion. I think he’s incredible. I’m really really happy for him. I think we all are really happy for him. Knowing how gut-wrenching it was not to be part of the team last year. But to now have the opportunity to lead and go forward I think is great.

Phil Mickelson added

The 2025 Ryder Cup will be held at Bethpage Black in New York. This will be the first time the tournament has been conducted at the legendary Tillinghast-designed course. Bethpage Black has previously hosted many major tournaments.

The biannual US-European golf tournament will return to the United States in 2025. The tournament was last held in the United States in 2016, at Hazeltine National Golf Club. Bethpage Black will be only the second New York course to host the Ryder Cup.

The Ryder Cup format will remain unaltered. There will be 28 matches spread across three days, encompassing foursomes, four-ball, and singles matches. The first team to score 14.5 points will win.

Keegan Bradley selected as captain of the U.S. Team for Ryder Cup 2025

Keegan Bradley has been appointed as the captain of the United States team for the 2025 Ryder Cup. The 38-year-old Bradley will lead the U.S. team at Bethpage Black in New York next September. He is the 31st U.S. captain since the Ryder Cup’s inception in 1927.

Bradley’s decision surprised many since Tiger Woods was generally expected to accept the leadership post. However, Woods declined, prompting the PGA of America to explore elsewhere for their future leader.

Bradley has prior Ryder Cup experience, having competed for the United States in 2012 and 2014. He went 4-3-0, including 2-1-0 in foursomes and 2-0-0 in fourball. He will become the youngest U.S. Ryder Cup captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963 when he turns 39 next September. His selection differs from the standard captaincy criteria.
