The rivalry between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys is unmatched, fueled by the passionate animosity between both fanbases. This tension was palpable when former Cowboy Marcus Spears took his seat at the ESPN desk to cover the Eagles’ game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Adding to the moment was the presence of Philly icon Jason Kelce, who joined Spears, creating a contrast that perfectly captured the intensity of the rivalry.

Eagles’ fans don’t forget a face easily, especially that of a Cowboys player, whether he’s still playing or retired. Spears, dressed in his best two-piece suit, talked about the chances of both sides and even though he was wearing a microphone, his voice was superseded by the chants of ‘Dallas Suck’ in the background.

A bunch of locals with Eagles gear and flags shouted at the top of their voices so that Spears could not ignore them. Jason Kelce was enjoying it because he had been there and done that.

After a short while, Spears got off his chair and walked toward the fans, expressing his love and respect for the Eagles fandom, and stood there with his hands folded together.

Marcus Spears and Jason Kelce’s prediction about the Eagles-Falcons game backfired

While Spears may be a Cowboy through and through—played every season besides his final year in Dallas—he agreed with colleague Jason Kelce that the Eagles would comfortably win the game. It was far from a cakewalk for Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley’s Eagles.

The game turned out to be a great nail-biter. It started off slow but picked up steam in the third and fourth quarters. With 2 minutes on the clock, the Eagles led 15-21 and had possession of the ball until Barkley dropped an easy pass, turning the ball over to the Falcons.

Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, who already threw one touchdown early on Darnell Mooney, made the most of the opportunity. As Marcus Spears and Kelce watched on from their booth, Cousins found Drake London open in the Eagles’ endzone for a 7-yard TD to win his first game as a Falcon.

Both Spears and Kelce’s prediction fell flat, but one can be sure Spears wouldn’t be too unhappy with the result, considering the Cowboys also lost a day earlier to the New Orleans Saints. Now both NFC East teams, the Eagles and Cowboys, sit with 1 win and 1 loss after two games.

There’s still a lot of time for the Cowboys and Eagles to face each other. Fans have to wait until November 11 to watch these two fierce rivals fight for a place in the playoffs.
