The Philadelphia Eagles celebrated the win of the franchise’s second Super Bowl by throwing a parade which led to the city being shut. Fans showed up in thousands to support the hometown heroes and barring a shooting that injured two, the parade was the perfect ending to a remarkable season.

Covering the parade was Mike Jerrick of Good Day Philadelphia who has become a national sensation over the past week. Jerrick was seen enjoying himself in New Orleans in the run-up to the Super Bowl and spent a night partying and trying out new drinks and delicacies that the city had to offer.

Jerrick is a loyal Philadelphia resident through and through. However, he chose to sport a pair of red gloves at the parade. If there is one thing about Philly fans, they take their sports teams seriously and that includes staying true to the Eagles’ green color.

Fans were not happy with Mike Jerrick’s decision to wear red gloves

Mike Jerrick’s choice of red gloves was controversial because the Philadelphia Eagles just beat the Kansas City Chiefs, a team that sports red with pride. It was an unintentional mistake on the part of Jerrick but Philly fans began to tweet about the color of his gloves. The increased activity on social media forced him to address the issue.

His co-host pointed out that fans were not happy about his choice of gloves and Jerrick initially justified his choice of gloves as being a pair of electric mittens that provided warmth. He clarified that while they looked red, they were actually bright orange. “Listen people, you’re sitting at home, in your comfy couch in your living room, I’m out here freezing…they’re electric gloves, they’re orange.” Funnily enough, once Jerrick found out that the gloves looked red on television, he did not hesitate to take them off.

The anchor took the gloves off and threw them onto the camera. To him, it was fine if he got frostbite as long as Philadelphia fans did not doubt that he was a Chiefs fan. The side benefit of this Super Bowl was that the rest of America got yet another opportunity to witness the comedic genius of Mike Jerrick. While he has been a familiar face in Philadelphia, not many outside the State of Pennsylvania know how interesting of a character he is.
