As previously reported by Post Wrestling, WWE will imminently announce a PLE event for September 20. Moreover, the show is expected to be headlined by an impending showdown between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. It will likely go down at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Having said that, a probable name for the event has finally emerged.
As per WrestleVotes, the unannounced show is set to receive the billing of Wrestlepalooza. It does hold a major significance, as the name was first used by ECW in 1995. In essence, WWE is reviving a classic where the TBA event on 9/20 was initially rumored to be unveiled as Bad Blood. The September-bound event will directly oppose AEW’s All Out pay-per-view, which is slated for an 8 pm EST start time.
September 20th, it’s a “Wrestlepalooza”…

It will be the first occurrence of a main roster WWE PLE going head-to-head with an AEW PPV. And that is believed to be the major reason behind WWE using Cena vs. Lesnar to generate buzz around it. The company is leaving no stone unturned regarding the 9/20 show, as rumblings have already begun within the broadcast industry that the said event could end up being a unique event that would air on ESPN.
There has been discussion within the broadcast industry that the planned added WWE event for 9/20 could end up being an extra, unique event that would air on ESPN as a preview of the type of programming WWE will bring to that new partnership that officially kicks off in April… pic.twitter.com/4DNidmFPAj

That shouldn’t come across as a surprise to the fans who are aware of WWE’s five-year exclusive PLE streaming rights deal with ESPN worth $1.6 billion. It will go into effect with the onset of the new year. The potential broadcast of Wrestlepalooza on ESPN would serve as a preview of the kind of programming WWE will bring to the table when its aforementioned partnership kicks off in full gear.
Brock Lesnar and John Cena set for separate dates in their feud’s build-up
Brock Lesnar hasn’t shown up since making his groundbreaking return to WWE at SummerSlam. He went after John Cena and laid him out with an F-5 to make his intentions of going after the 17-time world champion crystal clear. It was speculated by a number of fans that these men would lock horns in front of an international crowd in France at Clash in Paris on August 31.

However, as it turned out, Logan Paul is wrestling the Peacemaker actor that night. And as already noted above, the September 20 PLE is being added to have Lesnar go at it with Cena. ‘The Beast’ doesn’t seem likely to emerge on WWE television until the September 12 episode of SmackDown, for which he’s now been advertised. He will also be back for the subsequent Friday on September 19 in Toledo, a day before the yet-to-be-announced Wrestlepalooza show.

On the other hand, ‘The Cenation Leader’ is currently announced for a couple of dates in September, viz., the 9/5 SmackDown taping in Chicago and the 9/15 edition of Raw. That points to the direction that neither of these stars is interacting even once in the build-up to their feud, as none of the aforementioned dates coincide with one another. Will this be the final case? Only time will tell.
John Cena reflects on SummerSlam clash and failing first promo as a heel
John Cena‘s heel run is now in the rearview mirror. While the majority of the audience felt that it failed to capture their imagination, it did have some memorable moments in between. SummerSlam was Cena’s first PLE back as a babyface since Elimination Chamber, where he lost his Undisputed WWE title to Cody Rhodes in a five-star-rated street fight.

Speaking at a FAN EXPO in Chicago, the future Hall of Famer said that Rhodes brought out the best in him, and it reignited a fire in the 48-year-old. However, ‘The Last Real Champion’ also admitted that his first promo as a heel was a failure on his part.
John Cena says he failed with his first heel promo earlier this year:

"I wasn't upset [with the crowd reaction]. I just know I failed. Ain't nothing wrong with that. You learn from failure, right? — Shit happens."

For the unversed, Cena, in the above-stated conversation, is talking about the night he pulled up to Brussels on March 17 for Raw. ‘The Franchise Player’ infamously scolded a kid in attendance during that segment. It was his first WWE appearance since selling out to The Rock at the Elimination Chamber.
