“Pointless officiating”: Twitter lashes out on refs after Deandre Ayton gets a tech for a monstrous dunk on Luka Doncic’s head

Deandre Ayton and Luka Doncic have made it to the headlines with the Dallas Mavericks forcing a Game 7 against the Phoenix Suns. The series is so far the most interesting one as the players are going all in and against of each other to win the games and that has led to many whistles and physical actions around the series. In Game 6 Deandre Ayton gifted Luka Doncic a poster and had him down on the floor. It hyped up the fans but the officiating had them criticizing the officials as they believe it was soft and wrong. Now with the series being tied at 3-3 both the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks are in a do-or-die situation as the winner will advance ahead to the western conference finals and the unfortunate one will have the curtains closing on them for this season.

The Dallas Mavericks hosted the Phoenix Suns for Game 6 of the series at American Airlines Center. It was an important game for both the teams but unexpectedly wasn’t head-to-head or closely contested after the first quarter. As the Luka Doncic led Dallas Mavericks took over the control of the game and got the job done. The final box score stands at 113-86 favoring the Dallas Mavericks a 27 points blowout loss for the Phoenix Suns. Deandre Ayton led the offensive end but the team had a horrible time shooting the ball and even attempting it they even turned it over a lot resulting in free possessions and points for the rivals so eventually they ended up on the losing end and now will be hosting the Dallas Mavericks at Footprint Center for Game 7.

In the game, Luka Doncic dropped 33 points, 8 assists, and 11 rebounds. While Deandre Ayton got himself 21 points, 1 assist, and 11 rebounds and also a highlight tape as he had Luka Doncic on the ground after a monstrous dunk on him. The video clip of the play and the call stands viral on the internet.

With four minutes and one second remaining for the third quarter to end the game was paused as Luka Doncic was down on the floor after Deandre Ayton grabbing a pocket pass finished a dunk on him. Initially, a shooting foul was called on Luka Doncic as he jumped in to stop or block the play but after reviewing it a technical foul was called on Deandre Ayton as he taunted (stared down) Luka Doncic after dunking on him and elbowing him on the head.
