In his prime, the world knew Adrian Peterson to be a man who blew past elite NFL defensive lines and defensive backs. In retirement, however, Peterson has resorted to attempting to deliver blows to an average Joe over disagreements during a game of poker.

A recent video released by TMZ displays a tense situation between Peterson and an unidentified individual at the JokerStars club. In the video, the former NFL MVP and the man can be seen yelling at one another, going back and forth. Initially, a bouncer attempts to hold them apart so that the situation gets de-escalated.

However, things take a turn for the worse. Adrian Peterson breaks loose and begins to take multiple swings at the man. The onlookers at the club in Houston, Texas, can be heard screaming in the video, but Peterson was deaf to their screams. The situation wildly escalates in under 40 seconds.

The bouncer who stood between Peterson and the man takes a step back to avoid being on the receiving end of Peterson’s blows. From this point forward, all hell breaks loose. The former running back goes on to swing multiple times, hitting the man a few times, and then corners him while consistently exchanging blows. The other man does not make an effort to de-escalate either.

Throughout the video, the man is seen yelling at Peterson, infuriating him further, and when things get violent, he does not back off, either, landing a few punches on the former running back. Adrian Peterson told the source that a disagreement arose when he and one of his buddies were playing at a table. Soon enough, “one thing led to another,” and in no time, they were throwing punches.

Adrian Peterson left the club with visible wounds from the altercation

The former NFL MVP left the club with a few bloody wounds, as did the other man. Peterson claimed his wounds were sustained as a result of a fall on a chair, and not from a punch from the man. A notable fact in this instance is that Adrian Peterson and the other man were likely intoxicated when the brawl broke out.

Peterson knows the person at the other end of this fight.

Me and the guy, we’re cool. We’ve known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows- and that was it.

Peterson told TMZ after the fight ended. Assuming his words are true, the situation escalated to a point where it did not seem to be a mere disagreement between brothers anymore. After he had cooled off, AP went on to express his regrets about how things transpired.

I felt really bad. It’s a situation where I kind of regret it.

Fortunately for him and the man involved, the police did not intervene in the matter. They were not called to investigate the situation or punish either of the parties. This incident marks the second time this year that Adrian Peterson has found himself in trouble with the law.

Earlier this year, he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving while on a visit to the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. Peterson was attending the Vikings’ NFL Draft Party. His Audi Q5 was stopped on Highway 77 in Richfield, and the authorities determined his blood alcohol level to be 0.14%, twice the legal limit. He was booked on a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree DWI. Fortunately, he posted a $4,000 bond shortly after.
