- Myles Garrett was stopped for speeding at 100 MPH in a 60 MPH zone but received a lesser citation.
- This incident marks Garrett's ninth speeding ticket in Ohio, raising concerns about his driving behavior.
- Former Browns defensive coordinator Greg Williams urged Garrett to show maturity and prioritize safety on the road.
Myles Garrett‘s speeding incident could have turned ugly. It seems the Cleveland Browns pass rusher was let off the hook, given that he cooperated with the police officer.
Bodycam footage obtained by TMZ Sports revealed that a patrol car stopped Garrett’s vehicle in the northbound lane of I-71 in Wayne County. The officer asked Garrett to show the papers for his car. Garrett politely complied.
After a brief interrogation, the officer returned to her car and returned with a citation. Previous data showed Garrett driving 94 MPH in a 60 MPH zone. But that’s not correct. The 30-year-old was caught driving at 100 mph, which by law requires mandatory attendance in court for a hearing.

However, the officer charged Garrett with a lesser offense, resulting in a fine of approximately $157. He can afford it. Garrett has earned roughly $151 million since entering the NFL in 2017. Before the 2025 season kicked off, he agreed to a four-year, $160 million extension, including $123.5 million guaranteed and an average annual salary of $40 million.
Former Browns defensive coordinator sends a warning to Myles Garrett in the aftermath of his ninth speeding ticket
Greg Williams served as the Browns’ defensive coordinator from the 2017 season up until the end of the 2018 season. Williams worked with Garrett, the first overall pick, on a regular basis. So, he has an inkling about Garrett’s thought process.

In a recent segment on Cleveland sports radio station 92.3 The Fan, Williams discussed Garrett’s recent speeding ticket. Williams urged the Browns to have a face-to-face conversation with the All-Pro defensive end.
Everybody knows, I have a great respect for Myles and the family and everything when we brought him there. But sometimes, you’ve got to check your ego at the door, every single second of every day.
Greg Williams announced
This event turned out to be Garrett’s ninth recorded speeding incident in Ohio alone. Back in 2022, he survived a massive accident that totaled his Porsche. He missed the following game against the Atlanta Falcons, which the Browns lost 23-20.
"I don't know how he has his license. If you had 9 tickets would you still have your license?"

Even though he is just one ticket away from hitting double digits, it is unlikely that the DMV will suspend his license. That said, Williams believes that Garrett must show a bit of maturity while out on the streets, driving a multi-million dollar vehicle.
This is not only for your safety [Myles], but for everybody else’s safety out there, too. Sometimes… There are off-the-field things that affect the time that you’re gonna get an opportunity to play. Sometimes, depends upon what type of coach and what kind of person you are, you’ve got to set the limits, and you gotta make sure it’s doing it the right way.
Williams quipped
Last year, Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders picked up a ticket for driving at 101 MPH in a 60 MPH zone. Sanders later took responsibility for his actions.
I made some wrong choices personally, and I can own up to them. I made some, you know, not great choices… I learned.
Shedeur Sanders said
Nobody is looking for an apology from Garrett. As Williams highlighted, Garrett should act like a two-time Defensive Player of the Year even when he is not wrecking quarterbacks on the gridiron.
Garrett received his second accolade this past season after breaking the long-standing sack record. In 17 starts, he racked up 23.0 sacks, a career high 33 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 pass deflection.
