LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama and Kevin Durant
Victor Wembanyama had one of the most memorable rookie seasons ever proving why he was highly rated before he traded his native country for the NBA. Now he is about to start his second season with the San Antonio Spurs, and the hype has only intensified.
Hyping him is former NBA player, Patrick Beverley, who believes that the 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year has what it takes to be the best player in the league. He went as far as placing him on the same pedestal as legends, LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

These are bold comments from Pat Bev regarding Victor Wembanyama, given he is miles away from players like Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, or Joel Embiid. Last season he averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game on 46.5% shooting for a San Antonio Spurs side that struggled for the best part of last season. Also, his Olympic form shows that he would return with a bang as the Spurs kick-off the season with a tough match on the road game against the Dallas Mavericks.

DeRozan has firsthand knowledge of how Coach Greg Popvich operates as he once served under his tutelage. As such, he knows how well Wemby will grow as a player even though he’s with a team that won’t battle for the championship just yet.
I don't think he could've went to a better place, a better situation. First of all, from everything I hear, Wemby is already a hell of a kid. So the discipline, the hunger, the drive, the motivation - he already has. Being underneath the tutelage of a Pop.DeMar DeRozan on Podcast P
There is a strong possibility that Wemby will one day be the best player in the league and win championships, but expectations should be tampered a bit so he doesn’t drown in the pressure. However, one thing is certain, the Alien has the potential to surpass the great LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
