India vs England 2021: Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya react after getting called up to the ODI squad

The squad for India‘s ODI series against England was announced today and there were three players who received maiden call-ups. They were Suryakumar Yadav who had just scored a match-winning fifty yesterday, Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya. Among the three, Prasidh has never played international cricket. Both Krunal and Suryakumar on the other hand, have represented India in T20Is.

India and England are currently contesting a T20I series that is currently locked at 2-2 with one game to play. Following the series, there will be the ODI series with three matches taking place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on March 23, 26 and 28. Following the series, the players will disperse to their respective Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises for the tournament that begins on April 9.

Soon after the squads were announced for the ODIs, Prasidh Krishna took Twitter to express his excitement at being selected. He wrote, “Feels surreal when you get the call to play for your country. It’s like a dream come true. Excited to play my part and contribute to the success of the team. Thanks BCCI. Can’t wait to get started.”

Krunal Pandya also took to Twitter to write, “Honoured and grateful to have the opportunity to represent my country once again. Ready to give it my all.”

It is noteworthy that both Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya had excellent seasons at the Vijay Hazare Trophy that came to an end this month. The two have also been delivering good performances for their IPL franchises over the years. The ODIs will be the perfect opportunity for them to shine even brighter.
