Kolkata Knight Riders and India pacer Prasidh Krishna tests positive for COVID-19

Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna has tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the fourth player to return a positive result from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier and Tim Seifert.
The KKR bio-bubble has been the most vulnerable one and it had the first two cases reported ahead of the suspension of the IPL. Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were the first players to test positive, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided that the tournament could go on. But after cases breached the other teams’ bubbles like Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals, they had no choice but to suspend it.
Prasidh Krishna was named as one of the standbys for WTC final

A source from the KKR camp confirmed the news to ANI and reportedly said, “He is down with COVID-19. The results have come in and he tested positive.” It is worth noting that Tim Seifert had also returned a positive test meaning that he wouldn’t be able to join New Zealand teammates on a charter flight back home.
Another noteworthy fact is that Prasidh Krishna was named as one of the standbys for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) and the series against England that follows. It now remains to be seen if the pacer would be taken along with the rest of the squad in late May or early June.
The WTC final begins on the 18th of June in Southampton and will see India take on New Zealand.
