Premier League: Chelsea vs Manchester United


Chelsea vs Manchester United ends 0-0 in the Premier League. The match was played at Manchester United’s home Old Trafford.
Both teams couldn’t capitalise on the minimum chances they created. Moreover Edinson Cavani made his Premier League debut.
First Half

Chelsea started out on the front foot with some early corners. However the deliveries were not upto the mark and were easily cleared out. New Chelsea goalkeeper Eduoard Mendy nearly had a shock as his backpass came close to his own net.
Manchester United had a good chance via Marcus Rashford as he was set one on one. But Mendy’s outstretched legs were enough to make a crucial save. He was called into action again with a flying save to block Juan Mata’s curling effort.
However the main talking point was Maguire’s tackle on Azpillecueta. The United defender had Azpillecueta in a clear headlock but no foul was given by VAR.
Second Half

The second half too continued in the same fashion with little creativity from either side. Ole Gunnar did make some changes in the 55th minute. Paul Pogba came on along with newcomer
Chelsea too made changes with Abraham and Mount coming on for Werner and Havertz. Hakim Ziyech later came on for Christian Pulisic.
Chelsea had a flurry of chances in the latter end of the second half. The first one came with Cesar Azpillecueta’s cross bring blocked. Hakim Ziyech took both the corners but nothing resulted.
But the star of the show for Chelsea was Eduoard Mendy who made a splendid save to deny Rashford’s fierce shot.
