Premier League 2020/21: Liverpool vs Arsenal [Match Report]
Both Liverpool and Arsenal came into the game with two wins out of two matches. Arsenal got the better of Klopp’s men in the Community Shield but tonight Liverpool emerged victorious as they eased past the Gunners.
Arsenal initially troubled the hosts as Lacazette netted in an early goal. But Liverpool bounced back immediately as Sadio Mane and Robertson scored in quick succession making Liverpool’s comeback complete. The new signing Diogo Jota gave the finishing touch as Jurgen Klopp’s men defeated Arteta’s gunners 3-1 at Anfield.
First Half
Gunners started the first half with a bang as Lacazette scored early in the game to put Arsenal in the front. But from that moment the game was completely dominated by Liverpool. The pinpoint passing and clinical play of the Champions was too hot for Arsenal to handle.
Just minutes after Lacazette’s goal, Salah fired a shot at Leno which rebounded only to be netted in by Sadio Mane. Just as the first half was nearing to an end Trent Alexander Arnold fired in a cross which was chested and converted into a goal by the unmarked Andy Robertson.
Second Half
Arsenal looked dangerous after the break as they nearly equalized in the 63rd minute. Lacazette was onside and was on his way to convert the excellent pass from Ceballos into a goal. But at last Lacazette hit it straight to Allison which made the Brazilian’s job easy.
Liverpool’s new signing Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers made his debut from the bench in the second half. He missed few easy chances before netting in a goal on his debut in the 88th minute. Arsenal who were victorious in their first two games faced defeat in the hands of Liverpool. But the defending champions are still undefeated and will hope to continue their impressive run this season too.
