Aston Villa vs Brentford

Dean Smith’s Aston Villa traded tackles against Brentford at Villa Park. Currently, they’re placed 9th and 10th respectively as Brentford have a draw to their name while Aston Villa have a loss under theirs.

The match will be a crucial one as every game in the Premier League. Brentford have been in scintillating form and got off to the best possible starts. A great assist by captain Pontus Jansson was converted in the back of the net by striker Ivan Toney to give the Bees a 1-0 lead. However, they soon met with an equalizer in the 13th minute by Emi Buendía and Aston Villa made their way back into the match.

The match went down to the wire and a lot of gallantry attempts were made to get that winning goal but neither team succeeded at doing so. In the end, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. The players did a tremendous job to keep their sides in the game. Below we’ll find out how they performed.

Emiliano Martínez (GK) (6.5/10): Emiliano had a really good match except for the slight error he made which got converted into an equalizer for Aston Villa. He did concede a goal but he made a crucial save from inside the box to redeem himself a bit.

Matty Cash (7.1/10): Matty did a commendable job at defending and was better than the other defenders. He made three good clearances while was excellent with footwork. He won an interception and four impressive tackles.

Ezri Kinda (6.7/10): The captain had a decent enough game. He made 4 good clearances while also having a shy at goal but was way off target. Except for conceding a goal, he looked in good sync with other players.

Axel Tuanzebe (7.1/10): Axel was one of the key players that helped Aston Villa keep the score tied. He made some exceptional interceptions and also was invincible at Ariel duel challenges.

Matt Targett (6.3/10): A below-par performance for Targett as he lost possession with the ball more than any player on the field. He lost possession as many as 31 times while struggling at ground duels.

Douglas Luiz (6.7/10): Douglas gave his all into the game as he seemed to be running after every ball. In his hunger for possession, he made four fouls and gave his hundred percent.

Carney Chukwuemeka (6.5/10): After 63 minutes of Gameplay, Carney got subbed by Marvelous Nakamba. Carney had a decent game overall. He seemed to struggle during Ariel and ground challenges but redeemed himself by winning a few duels.

Anwar El Ghazi (6.9/10): Anwar was undoubtedly the most active player on the field as he managed to take on as many as 18 ground challenges and won 50% of those. He also did a fine job dribbling past the Brentford midfield.

Emi Buendía (/10): Aston Villa were put in a tough spot after the opening goal but Emi came to the rescue and scored the equalizer, six minutes after the opening goal. A well-directed assist by Danny Ings had helped Emi send the ball in the back of the net to give Aston Villa hope to survive. Overall, he had a good game and showcased his dribbling skills with effect.

Ashley Young (6.5/10): Young had a decent game before he was subbed in the 79th minute. He barely got into any challenge situations and hardly got any balls in his possession.

Danny Ings (6.9/10): The striker had one of the best possible games. He did contribute with a valuable assist early on that got Aston Villa equaled up with Brentford. He also had a shy at goal but was denied by the keeper.

Substitutes

Marvelous Nakamba (6.6/10): The substitute played for 27 minutes in the second half and was involved in a healthy ground duel challenge which he won convincingly. Otherwise, he did a decent job with passing the bare minimum balls he got, around the corner.

Ollie Watkins (6.9/10): Ollie walked in the 79th minute and already made an impression. He was very quick and smooth with the ball. He had two shots, both on target but denied.

Kortney Hause (6.7/10): Kortney did a good job coming in the 89th minute. He showed great determination in winning the standalone Ariel duel and looked passionate.

David Raya (7.3/10): Despite conceding the equalizer, David Raya redeemed himself very quickly. He made four excellent saves from inside the box that helped his side clinch the draw.

Kristoffer Ajer (7/10): Ajer did a fine job as he made four good clearances to keep the ball away from the Brentford goal. He also made four fantastic tackles to win possession.

Pontus Jansson (7.1/10): The captain led from the front by setting a really good example. He made the crucial assist first up to help Brentford gain the lead in the 7th minute of the match. He also made four good clearances to keep the spirits of the Bees alive.

Ethan Pinnock (7.2/10): The defender was to be seen everywhere. He had a shy at goal but was way off target. He was running around with the ball on several occasions. He did win some good interceptions but lost possession multiple times.

Sergi Canos (6.9/10): Sergi had a decent game as compared to his other mates. He tried challenging the opposing team with ground duels but failed more than he achieved the possession of the ball.

Christian Nørgaard (6.3/10): Christian had a below-par performance as he didn’t manage to make an impact with any of his ground or Ariel challenges. He failed 5 times out of seven on his attempt to provide the long ball.

Vitaly Janelt (6.9/10): Vitaly did a good job at keeping the ball moving and also made some good interceptions and tackles. He did keep the ball on the run in search of goal-scoring chances.

Rico Henry (6.3/10): Rico didn’t find the rhythm in challenging the Aston Villa midfield as he failed on numerous attempts to win the ball off Ariel or ground duels. He also made a good run to have a chance at goal but was way off target.

Saman Ghoddos (7.1/10): Just the 66 minutes for the center forward as he gets replaced by Yoane Wissa. However, Saman had a good match. He dared to create chances but got blocked on two occasions.

Bryan Mbeumo (6.3/10): An unlucky day for Bryan. He did get a great ball and was even on target but was denied. He missed a big chance that could’ve made it 2-1 in favor of Brentford.

Ivan Toney (7.3/10): Ivan gave the Bees a magnificent start by scoring a goal of the captain’s assist in the 7th minute of the encounter. He was seen to be good with his pace and kept good control of the ball.

Substitutes

Yoane Wissa (6.2/10): The substitute didn’t impress many. Despite getting the opportunity infield, he didn’t maximize and lost all his ground duel challenges.

Mathias Jensen (6.7/10): A decent few minutes on the pitch for Mathias. He didn’t have many opportunities to make an impact as he barely got four touches on the ball.

Shandon Baptiste (6.6/10): Shandon only got nine minutes of gameplay and in that time period he managed to win the only ground duel challenge he faced. A good presence in the limited time by him.
