Aston Villa vs Southampton: Aston Villa host Southampton on Matchday 28 of the Premier League at the Villa Park.
First half was dominated by Aston Villa as they scored 2 goals courtesy Ollie Watkins and Douglas Luiz. Although Southampton had better possession, it was Villa who looked threatening with the ball. They added two more goals in the second half through Philippe Coutinho and Danny Ings’ strike. Steven Gerrard’s Villa had a perfect afternoon as they outplayed Southampton.

Calum Chambers (7.5/10): Chambers was solid in the back. He was brilliant aerially and cleared the ball out of danger.
Tyrone Mings (7.4/10): The captain had a good match along with his center-back pair. He made a few important interceptions and was positionally good.
Ashley Young (7.7/10): The veteran’s left-back was outstanding on the left flank. He created a couple of chances and pushed forward into the box with intent.
John McGinn (7.6/10): McGinn had an amazing afternoon on the pitch. He created 4 chances, which was the most in the match.
Douglas Luiz (8.3/10): Luiz was accurate with his shots and scored a neat goal of Coutinho’s assist. His distribution of the ball was too good.
Jacob Ramsey (7/10): Ramsey had a decent game in the midfield as he made a few tackles and was successful in all of them.
Ollie Watkins (8.3/10): Although he had the least amount of touches on the field, Watkins made full use of the ball whenever in possession as he scored a brilliant opening goal for Aston Villa.
Danny Ings (9/10): Ings had an exceptional game against his former club. He scored a goal and provided an assist to Ollie Watkins’ opener.
Philippe Coutinho (8.8/10): Coutinho was one of the best players on the pitch for Villa. He scored an amazing goal in the second half in addition to his first half assist.

Fraser Forster (6.8/10): Forster was arguably Southampton’s best player as he faced 9 shots on target and saved 5 of them.
Valentino Livramento (6.7/10): Livramento had a decent outing on the right full-back position. He was not supported by the attackers going forward.
Jan Bednarek (5.9/10): Bednarek was out of touch and made errors in the back which led to a couple of goals.
Jack Stephens (5.7/10): Stephens had a bad game as he was positionally weak at the back letting in runs through the defence.
Romain Perraud (5/10): Perraud had a forgettable match on the left flank. He had no tackles or interceptions as a defender and was replaced by Walker-Pieters in the second half.

James Ward-Prowse (6.6/10): The skipper had an average game, unlikely of his standards. He passed well but lacked the creativity in midfield.
