Premier League: Chelsea vs Norwich City player ratings as the Blues put 7 past Norwich City

Chelsea absolutely demolished Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday as they defeated them 7-0. Mason Mount was scoring for fun as he registered a hat-trick. Callum Hudson Odoi too found his name on the scoresheet with Reece James and Ben Chilwell getting one all.

The Blues hardly felt the absence of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner as they scored goals for fun. This is the first time Chelsea have scored seven goals in eleven years.

Here are the player ratings :

Chelsea

Eduoard Mendy (6.5/10)- Yet another clean sheet in the pocket for the goalkeeper of the season so far. He had to make one important save against Rashica in the second half.

Thiago Silva (6.5/10)- Dominant performance from the Brazilian veteran once again. Brilliant on the ball and brilliant in the air as well. Silva hardly let anything to pass.

Trevoh Chalobah(6.5/10) – Trevoh Chalobah is slowly learning a lot playing alongside Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva. He put on a mature performance and hardly looked like a defender who’s in his first season.

Antonio Rudiger (6.5/10)- The German international is definitely one of the best defenders in the league at the moment. Combined beautifully with Ben Chilwell and made some crunching tackles.

Ben Chilwell (7.5/10)- The English left back is in some form at the moment! Chilwell scored yet another goal for Chelsea with a stunning hit from outside the box. A sweet strike with his left foot.

Reece James (7.5/10)- Back in the team and back on the scoresheet. Reece James produced a brilliant goal as he dunked over an onrushing Krul to score his second goal of the Premier League season.

Matteo Kovacic (7/10)- A very strong performance from the Croatian international today. He was all over the field today and played some lovely one touch football throughout.

Jorginho ( 6.5/10) – The Italian once again was at the heart of the midfield for Chelsea. Completely controlled the tempo of the match. Everything went through Jorginho today.

Mason Mount (8.5/10)- A stunning game for Mason Mount who had a field day today. First he opened the scoring for Chelsea with a lovely hit into the bottom left corner. Then he converted his penalty past Tim Krul and then finally tapped in for his hat-trick. Moreover he got the assist for Reece James as well.

Kai Havertz (6/10) – Not the best performance from Kai Havertz today who looked a bit off somehow. His hold up play was not up to the mark and lost possesion a lot of times

Callum Hudson Odoi (7.5/10)- Callum Hudson Odoi was given the starting position with Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku out and he fully utilised it. A lovely through ball from Jorginho and he was through on goal with ease.

Substitutes

Ruben Loftus Cheek (6.5/10)- Ruben Loftus Cheek was extremely sharp after coming on and it’s a shame he didn’t start. He had a shot which was deflected and then easily saved. Moreover he got the assist for Mason Mount’s third goal.

Ross Barkley (6/10)- A rare appearance for Ross Barkley today as he replaced Kai Havertz. He had a brilliant opportunity but was denied by Krul.

Hakim Ziyech (6.5/10)- Hakim Ziyech had two great opportunities after coming on. The first one was just high but the next one was hit with fierce power but Krul just tipped it over the bar.

Norwich City

Tim Krul (6/10)- In all honesty, if Krul wasn’t there for Norwich City , Chelsea could have easily scored in double digits. He made some crucial saves which still prevented the visitors from conceding more.

Grant Hanley(5/10)- Hanley could hardly match the pace of the Chelsea youngsters Mason Mount and Callum Hudson Odoi. They ran circles around him as he was unable to close down the spaces.

Ben Gibson (4/10) – A horrid game from the Norwich City number four as he was sent off with two yellow cards in the second half. Some silly tackles which were absolutely unnecessary and put his team under more pressure.

Ozan Kabak(5/10)- The Turkish defender really needs to improve his game if he wants a chance to shine at Liverpool. He was made to look bang average by the Chelsea forwards.

Kenny McLean ( 5/10)- McLean was extremely sloppy in possession and was hardly able to retain the ball. As a result Chelsea won the ball off him multiple times and started their attacks.

Pierre Lees-Melou(5/10)- The midfielder was frustrated all afternoon by Chelsea’s players. Hence he made some pretty unnecessary challenges as a result of which he was booked in the first half.

Mathias Normann (4.5/10)- Matthias Norman spent most of the game running behind Matteo Kovacic who was all over him. In the end Norman was also booked in the 82nd minute for a clumsy challenge.

Dimitris Giannoulis (5/10)- Similar to Norman, Giannoulis also had any real impact in the Norwich City midfield. They were constantly closed down and couldn’t get anything forward.

Max Aarons (5/10)- While Norwich City were unable to cope up with the constant barrage from Chelsea, Max Aarons’s did the worst as he conceded an own goal in the 62nd minute.

Teemu Pukki (5/10)- Teemu Pukki hardly got any service to make it count for Norwich City. He spent most of the match trying to put pressure on the Chelsea defensive line.

Joshua Sargent (5/10)- As rightly said by the commentators, Joshua Sargent was pretty ineffective tonight. Hardly got into any rhythm and learned a lesson from the big boys in the hard way.

Substitutes

Milot Rashica (5.5/10)- Milot Rashica came the closest to scoring for Norwich City in the entire game. He rounded Eduoard Mendy and unleashed his shot but Eduoard Mendy made himself big and stopped it.

Brandon Williams (5/10)- The former Manchester United player replaced Giannoulis but wasn’t able to make any difference as Chelsea continued attacking from the wing

Andrew Omobamidele- NA
