Crystal Palace vs Brentford

The fiery London derby ended in a stalemate in front of a packed Selhurst crowd as Crystal Palace failed to take advantage of the atmosphere at home. Palace started the game really well as Chelsea loanee Connor Gallagher hit the woodwork in the 7th minute, which ended up being the biggest chance of the game. Brentford slowly grew into the game after a rusty start, as Mbuemo hit the frame of the Palace goal from a free-kick. The Bees looked dangerous in the counters, making the first half very even.

More end-to-end football in the second half as well, with Benteke and Toney missing great aerial chances. The Eagles dragged the game to the wire in the end by putting Brentford into pressure. The game ended goalless as neither team could make good outcomes of the chances.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace

Vicente Guaita: 8/10

FS Video

Guaita won all the aerial balls that seemed dangerous in the penalty area as Brentford could not make anything from their set piece prowess.

Joel Ward: 6/10

Ward did well to keep Henry at bay in the whole of the game and also provided Benteke with a great chance from a cross.

Joachim Andersen: 6/10

In his first full debut for the Eagles, the Danish defender looked solid even after getting a yellow card early in the game.

Marc Guehi: 7/10

A rock solid performance from the Chelsea graduate as his partnership with Andersen did not Allow Toney and Mbuemo to create opportunities.

Who is Crystal Palace captain

Tyrick Mitchell: 5/10

Not a very convincing performance from the left back, as he not only failed to make creative passes but also lost the ball multiple times resulting in Brentford counters.

Cheickhou Kouyate: 6/10

Had a clumsy and rusty first half, but started the second half really well. Dropped in as a Sweeper many times helping out his defense.

James McArthur: 7/10

Looked like an engine all throughout the game, winning tackles and progressing the play upfield. A captain’s performance from the veteran.

Connor Gallagher: 7/10

The bright performance on the field as he got a golden chance from what was a tight angle. Did well feeding the attackers and put a lot of pressure on the Brentford midfield.

Who is Crystal Palace captain

Jeffrey Schlupp: 6/10

A very average performance from Schlupp not giving anyone anything to analyse ot=r comment upon. Reflected the story of the Palace attack in the afternoon.

Christian Benteke: 6/10

Got a great chance in the second half from Ward’s cross but failed to convert. Looked good holding up play for the wingers.

Wilfried Zaha: 5/10

Disappointing afternoon from the Palace starman as it was a game to forget for Zaha. Not many chances created and failed to complete half of the dribbles.

Substitutes

Jordan Ayew: 4/10

Got good chances to put into the box, but all his balls sailed into the crowd.

Brentford

Brentford vs Arsenal

David Raya: 7/10

Not much to work for the Brentford keeper although had a nervy moment in between with two of his defenders, almost resulting in a Palace goal but his excellent save off McArthur compensated it.

Kristoffer Ajer: 7/10

Not only was a great third center back in the Back 3 set up, ajer also made great runs through the middle creating problems for Palace.

Pontus Jansson: 6/10

Escaped from a couple of controversial fouls but a solid day at the back for the Brentford skipper. Two Clean sheets in two for Brentford.

Ethan Pinnock: 6/10

A quiet day for Pinnock as Palace failed to give the Brentford defenders a run for their money. His long throw-ins were a bit nervy for the Palace defense.

Brentford player Pontus Jansson

Sergi Canos: 6/10

Could not pick from where he left off against Arsenal, but Canos did well with crosses but the Palace defence was up to the mark to head them away.

Frank Onyeka: 7/10

Onyeka was in the middle of every Brentford attack as he linked up really well with the two strikers.

Christian Norgaard: 6/10

An average performance from the Danish midfielder at the heart of the midfield, and failed to win headers during set pieces.

Vitaly Janelt: 7/10

Just like Mcarthur for Palace, Janelt was the engine that ran the game in the midfield for Brentford. After a poor performance in the first game, Janelt bounced back well.

Brentford player Pontus Jansson

Rico Henry: 7/10

His burst and acceleration proved to be dangerous for the Palace defense as he put really good low crosses in but the attackers failed to convert.

Bryan Mbuemo: 7/10

Again Brentford’s main man up top but a solid performance from Guehi did not allow Mbuemo to flourish. His free kick was the closest Brentford came to scoring.

Ivan Toney: 6/10

A very quiet evening for Toney inside the box, although he had few shots from outside. Had a good headed chance in the second half, but apart from it, nothing in the game.

Substitutes

Saman Ghoddos: 6/10

Ghoddos came in for Onyeka but failed to replicate the latter’s performance. Few direct passes into the attack, but apart from it, a silent evening.

Mads Bidstrup: NA

Yoane Wissa: NA
