Premier League: Crystal Palace vs Liverpool player ratings as the Reds earned a crucial victory away from home

Liverpool earned a very important victory at a tough place as Van Dijk, Chamberlain and Fabinho scored for the Reds.

Liverpool earned a hard-fought victory at Selhurst Park as they refused to throw in the towel in the title slugfest. The Reds won the game by three goals to one as Virgil Van Dijk, Oxlade Chamberlain and Fabinho scored for Liverpool while Odsonne Edouard found the back of the net for the home side.

Liverpool enjoyed much of the ball in the first half and created many goal-scoring opportunities. However, Crystal Palace made a strong return in the second half as they showed much more resilience and fight. Edouard scored from Mateta’s assist to light up the game. However, Fabinho’s penalty sealed the match for Liverpool.

Liverpool continued to keep the pace at the top while Crystal Palace goes down in the table.

Crystal Palace lost to Liverpool at Selhurst Park

Vicente Guaita 6/10

Guaita, as expected had an arduous outing against Klopp’s Reds. He could not do anything about Van Dijk’s perfect header as the Palace defense left him unmarked. However, he slightly misjudged Chamberlain’s shot and he did not cover up the space as Liverpool’s number 21 ultimately scored.

Marc Guehi 6.5/10

Guehi, who was signed by Palace from Chelsea in the summer, found it quite difficult to track the constant inside runs and crosses from Liverpool. He made a few good interceptions but, however, could not prevent any of the visitors’ goals. Further, he lost some aerial duels near the box.

Joachim Anderson 7/10

Anderson had a good game, especially his performance in the second half. He also tried his luck from the long-range after clearance and his shot was just off the left post.

Tyrick Mitchell 6.5/10

The left-back sent some good long balls from his flank and he did not hesitate to surge forward in order to link up with Schlupp and co. Further, he won all of his ground duels.

Joel Ward 6/10

Liverpool was great on the flank where he operated as Robertson and co were very lively there to create chances. due to that reason, Ward could not surge forward much and also spent much of his spell trying to cope with fast link-up plays from the Reds. Further, he lost possession many times.

Conor Gallagher 6/10

Gallagher is having a great season as a loanee, however, he had a quiet game today. It wasn’t ticking for him especially in the first half as he lost the majority of his aerial and ground duels.

He had a quiet game amongst Palace’s midfielders. He had the least number of touches amongst the midfielders. Further he gave away some silly fouls.

J. Schlupp 7/10

It was a remarkable ball from him for build-up in Edouard’s goal. At times he also did his job in a defensive sense as he made some good clearances and interceptions.

Michael Olisse 7/10

Olisse was often a creative arm of the home side. He sent a great low ball to Mateta in the first half and it always looked like he will be there to offer some creativity to Crystal Palace. He had a great opportunity to score from close range but it was side netting.

Mateta 7.5/10

Mateta was a lively Palace player throughout the game. He had a great chance to score in the first half when he tried to go round Alisson. He also gave an assist for Edouard’s goal.

Odsonne Edouard 7/10

He had a quiet first half; however, it was a good return in the second half from him as in the first few minutes he scored a goal for the home side.

Alisson’s strong hands kept Liverpool in the game as he made some great saves. That save from a close-range effort in the first half was sensational. Further his distribution was spot on too.

As usual, the sensational right-back was lively on his flank throughout the game. However, he did provide a wonderful delivery from the corner spot for Van Dijk’s header.

Matip’s ball distribution was good but he lost the ball in key moments. Especially, his loose the ball in the first half gave a bit of trouble for Alisson.

Virgil Van Dijk 7/10

The rock-solid defender scored Liverpool’s deadlock-breaking goal with a powerful header from Trent’s corner. The clearances he made were crucial too.

Andrew Roberton 7/10

Robertson was a constant threat down that left flank. The Scottish international assisted Chamberlain’s goal with a fine lobbed delivery.

Liverpool’s captain did not enjoy much of a comfortable afternoon at Selhurst Park. He did lose the ball quite a few times and was out of the position so often.

The Brazilian continued to show his importance in this Liverpool side. He has been a goal-scoring hero for them for last few weeks and he continued to do so in this game as he scored from a penalty spot in the latter part of the game.

Chamberlain scored a very good goal from the left flank with a low volley. He was subbed on 60th minute for Minamino.

He was not that influential today as he was against Arsenal in Carabao Cup. However, he won a penalty for his side in the very end as he was fouled by the goalkeeper.
