Premier League: Leeds United vs Everton Player Ratings as they play out an entertaining draw

Leeds United vs Everton

Leeds United and Everton played out an enthralling 2-2 draw at Elland Road. This was the first time in 17 years that Leeds fans were in attendance for a Premier League fixture. Dominic Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring after converting a penalty. This was equalized by Mateusz Klich towards the end of the first half. Demarai Gray scored in the 50th minute before Raphina scored towards the closing stages as the points between both sides were shared.

Leeds Player Ratings

Leeds United player Liam Cooper

Illan Meslier – (5/10)

The Frenchman was good in patches but failed to stop the penalty from Calvert-Lewin and the curling effort from Demarai Gray. He made a few regulations saves apart from this.

Luke Ayling – (6/10)

The Leeds United right-back put in a solid performance and helped to press the Everton midfield to good effect. He managed to keep the likes of Sheamus Coleman and Allan quiet.

Pascal Struijk – (5/10)

A solid performance from the Dutchman who played at the heart of defense through the game. However, he couldn’t manage to be the threat in set-pieces he usually is.

Liam Cooper – (4/10)

A rare poor game for the Leeds United skipper. Cooper’s loss of concentration saw him concede a cheap penalty where he tugged the shirt of Calvert-Lewin. A couple of defensive errors saw Demarai Gray take the chance a score. He picked up a yellow card for conceding the penalty.

Junior Firpo – (6/10)

Firpo made his first start in the Premier League after signing from Barcelona. He put in a decent shift at left full-back.

Kalvin Phillips – (7/10)

The England international has seemingly carried his form from the Euros into the Premier League. His intricate passing and ability to hold a good midfield together were the cornerstone of the Leeds performance.

Raphina – (9/10)

The Brazilian was clearly the best player on the field. He considerably improved his performance after a disappointing outing against Manchester United. He also scored the second goal, a brilliant low shot in the bottom corner. He was threatening right through the game.

Stuart Dallas – (8/10)

A strong performance from the versatile midfielder. His work rate was noted by many and was instrumental in both goals being scored.

Mateusz Klich – (8/10)

The Poland international scored the first goal for Leeds, which turned out the be an equalizer to Everton’s first goal. He was replaced at half-time by Tyler Roberts.

Jack Harrison – (5/10)

After signing from Manchester City on a permanent basis, Jack Harrison had a quiet game and did little to make things happen in terms of attacking impetus.

Patrick Bamford – (7/10)

Bamford set up the first goal with a wonderfully weighted pass for Klich. He put in the hard yards and managed to trouble Micahel Keane in defense.

Substitutes

Tyler Roberts – (5.5 /10)

Came on at the start of the second half. Impressed with decent work rate alongside Patrick Bamford.

Jamie Shackleton – (5/10)

Came on for Junior Firpo just after halftime. Impressed a bit.

Everton Player Ratings

10 best Everton signings

Jordan Pickford – (6/10)

The England number 1 showed good composure at goal. Apart from making a few regulations saves, Pickford had a good presence between the sticks.

Lucas Digne – (6/10)

A solid performance from the Everton left-back. However, he was beaten several times by Raphina on the wing.

Michael Keane – (6/10)

Keane had a decent game and managed to keep Patrick Bamford quiet for the most part. He came close to scoring a few times from set-pieces as well.

Yerry Mina – (5/10)

It was a poor game for the former Barcelona defender. Following a scrap with Leeds striker Bamford, Mina was booked for the altercation.

Sheamus Coleman – (6/10)

The Everton skipper managed to get into some decent attacking positions but couldn’t manage to influence the game. Especially in the attack.

Abdoulaye Doucouré – (6.5/10)

A solid performance from Doucoure saw his side retain a point from Elland road. He came close to scoring when his low shot was saved by Leeds keeper Meslier.

Allan – (7/10)

The Brazilian put in a strong performance and managed to match the work rate put in by Stuart Dallas for a few parts of the game.

Demarai Gray – (8/10)

Gray scored the second goal for Everton early in the second half. He played on the left-wing for the most part of the match and managed to keep Luke Ayling on his toes.

Richarlison – (7/10)

The Brazilian international put in a decent performance despite not being able to influence the game too much.

Alex Iwobi – (6/10)

The former Arsenal man didn’t have the best of games at right-wing. However, he did cut in and try to score when the opportunity did present itself.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – (8/10)

The England striker converted a penalty which he won to hand Everton a 1-0 lead. His influence on the game grew as he created problems for Liam Cooper in defense.
