Kobbie Mainoo has been one of the most sensational rising stars in recent times with the youngster leaving an impressive imprint in his very first season at Manchester United. With a total of 35 appearances for the Red Devils, Mainoo has blasted five goals while knitting together three assists. Such has been the charisma of the youngster, that he is already being touted as the next big thing for Manchester United.
Kobbie Mainoo was also a pivotal part of the England team in the recently concluded Euro 2024 as the Three Lions made it to the final but was left empty-handed with Spain clinching the continental silverware with another emphatic display. With Mainoo being pointed out as one of the key elements of Erik ten Hag’s plan for the upcoming season, former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes drew contrast between Mainoo and the French icon, Zinedine Zidane.
He’s the nearest thing I’ve seen to [Zinedine] Zidane in taking a ball, receiving the ball, cruising past people. I heard there was a young lad holding his own against Casemiro in training, sometimes better than him. But you have to go out and do it. The first time I saw him I remember that calmness. The way he received the ball with confidence; I just couldn’t believe such a young player could do that.Paul Scholes told The Guardian in an interview
Paul Scholes also pointed out that the signature calm and poise with which Mainoo conducts himself on the pitch, it took five to six years for the former English international to master it. He emphasized the fact that it is the calm that would eventually help Mainoo to learn the nitty gritty of the trade while being the best at his craft. Scholes made it very clear that if Mainoo can continue to do what he is doing, then chances are high that he will be one of the top stars in the near future.
Here is how Manchester United fared in the lastest transfer window
It has been a busy transfer window for Manchester United which the experts believe to have been the most effective one in the last decade. With injuries being a major concern in the heart of the United defence, Ten Hag has brought in exciting young names not only to forge a formidable force but also to keep one for the future.

With Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee coming onboard with further inquiries about other young talents afoot, Manchester United means serious business. Despite the metatarsal injury that will keep Yoro out for three months, yet Ten Hag believes that the introduction of Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt alongside an already existent duo of Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire can be the real game-changer for the upcoming season. Manchester United starts their latest Premier League season with a clash against Fulham.
