Premier League: Southampton vs Burnley player ratings as the match ends in a 2-2 draw

St Mary’s Stadium witnessed a mind-boggling encounter between Southampton and Burnley which ended in a 2-2 draw. Goals from Tino Livramento and Armando Broja were met with a brace from Maxwel Cornet as the match progressed and ended in a 2-2 draw with the points being shared by both the teams.
With that draw, Southampton lay 16th on the points table while Burnley are settled at eighteenth. After a great match-up, let’s have a look at how the players performed :
Southampton
Alex McCarthy (GK) (6.5/10) : McCarthy did a decent job with the gloves but he did let past Maxwel’s brace which was rather displeasing for Southampton. He also failed at communicating well with his defence unit which was a task.
Tino Livramento (7.9/10) : Livramento directed a beautiful header off Redmond’s excellent corner to make it 1-1 for Southampton. Apart from his exceptional goal, he did a fine job at defending for his side. Although he did lose possession on way too many occasions.
Jan Bednarek (6.8/10) : Jan was really good with his clearences and added certain value to the defence unit and he did do a great job when it came to ground and aerial duels.
Mohammed Salisu (6.5/10) : Salisu could’ve done a much better job with his defending but he did quite well by winning some rather impressive interceptions and did good with passing.
Romain Perraud (6.6/10) : Losing possession was a thing on field and certainly Romain was one of the top players to lose the most possession. However, he found himself having a shy at goal but was way off target.
Theo Walcott (6.4/10) : Theo’s performance wasn’t as impactful as Southampton would’ve wanted. He just had the one off target attempt at goal but that was the end of it.
Oriol Romeu (6.5/10) : The captain successively failed at ground and aerial duels and lost possession on one too many occasions. He did make some valuable clearences but didn’t impact the game in anyway.
Ibrahima Diallo (6.7/10) : Diallo’s assist was one of the moments of the match. He assisted Armando by feeding him a brilliant ball who he captialised wonderfully to make it 2-1 for the Saints.
Mohamed Elyounoussi (6.7/10) : Just the one off target shot for Elyounoussi. He did a good job at ground duels but not so well with aerial duels. He also lost possession at one too many occasions.
Armando Broja (7.9/10) : Right after the beginning of the second half, Armando is fed a magnificent ball by Diallo and he doesn’t fail to capitalise as he puts one on the left side to bring the lead to Southampton.
Nathan Redmond (7/10) : Redmond gave in a brilliant corner which was beautifully guided by Tino Livramento into the box to bring the equaliser for the Saints.

Burnley
Nick Pope (GK) (6.2/10) : Not the best of games with the gloves for Pope. He conceded two goals which could’ve been dealt with in a much better way and he definitely seemed to be off his game.
Matthew Lowton (7.2/10) : Lowton made a fantastic assist to begin the proceedings for Burnley. His assist was converted into the opening goal for the side by Maxwel Cornet. Apart from that, he did an exceptional job with defending.
Nathan Collins (6.9/10) : Nathan made some valuable clearences for the side while also doing a commendable job at winning aerial duels for his team.
James Tarkowski (7/10) : The captain led from the front to set an example for the other players. He did a fine job at defending and was exceptionally quick with his feet to win tackle battles and interceptions.
Charlie Taylor (7/10) : Charlie was to be seen going around places with his Pacey feet and he seemed to be one confident player not to be giving up on tackles. He made some really crucial interceptions.
Dwight McNeil (7.3/10) : Confidence seemed to be oozing out of Dwight as he was brilliant and ground duels and carried forward his excellency with tackle battles.
Ashley Westwood (6.8/10) : Westwood made a gallantry assist to Cornet to help bring the equaliser in time for Burnley to share points. He himself had an attempt at goal but was off target.
Jack Cork (6/10) : A poor performance by Jack Cork. He seemed to be completely bent out of shape and was certainly the weakest link for his side.
Maxwel Cornet (7.9/10) : Maxwell scored a brilliant header off Lowton’s pinpoint cross to bring the lead to Burnley. He redid his heroics in the second half by taking a bouncing ball and volleyed it past the keeper from 20 yards out to complete his brace.
Josh Brownhill (6.7/10) : Apart from passing well and making some valuable opportunities and winning aerial duels, Brownhill had a below average game.
Chris Wood (6.8/10) : Wood seemed to be loving his time out in the middle trying to win aerial duels and he did an exceptional job at it. He did have an attempt on target but he was denied by the keeper.
