The Indian cricket team defeated New Zealand by four wickets to win the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, in a thrilling final at the Dubai International Stadium. Alongside the glistening trophy, the Indian team will also get a massive prize money.
The ICC Champions Trophy made its return, after having been previously discontinued at the end of the 2017 edition. While Pakistan was announced as the host of the tournament, the Indian team, highlighted security concerns, and objected against travelling to the host nation. In such a situation, the matches featuring the Men in Blue were played in Dubai, with the other teams travelling to and fro.
India, who made it to their fifth Champions Trophy final, defeated the Kiwis to clinch the trophy for the third time. India had previously won it in 2002 and 2013. Batting first, New Zealand posted a fighting total of 252 runs. However, the Men in Blue, guided by skipper Rohit Sharma‘s brilliant knock of 76 runs, chased down the target, to win their second straight ICC tournament.
