Coming off the best season of his career with the Offensive Player of the Year honor, Christian McCaffrey is starring on the cover of the new “Madden NFL 25” video game. His father Ed McCaffrey couldn’t be prouder.
In the San Francisco 49ers’ run for the Super Bowl, McCaffrey logged 1,459 rushing yards, averaged 5.4 yards a carry, and 14 touchdowns. He additionally caught 67 passes for 564 yards and seven touchdowns– as he significantly contributed to the team’s offensive dominance in the NFC.
And now, shortly after receiving the highest-paid extension of two-year worth $38 million in the running back market, McCaffrey has earned the highest honor that an NFL player can get off-field. The running back covered this as a “longtime dream come true” as he has been a long-time fan of Madden’s video game.
Growing up, the Niners star running back revealed how he used to play video games with his brothers and used to throw the ball to a digital version of their father, who is a former NFL player.
Ed McCaffrey celebrates his son’s Madden 25 cover selection
While talking about his son’s selection as the cover athlete for Madden, former Broncos wide receiver and proud father Ed McCaffrey expressed his immense happiness by sharing the Madden cover featuring his son, along with a long caption in his recent X post.
It is surreal and incredible to see Christian McCaffrey don the cover of Madden 25. Proud dad moment! We’ve come a long way from seeing my boys play Madden 2001. And now Christian will continue the late, great John Madden’s legacy! Just make sure to bump my overall to 99 if you find me in.wrote Ed McCaffrey on X
There haven’t been many players in the league who have had the opportunity to experience this honor. Lamar Jackson, Tom Brady, Josh Allen, and Patrick Mahomes are a few of the players to have been featured on the cover of Madden. With McCaffrey on the cover, he has now become one of the elite players in the NFL.
