Paris Saint Germain president Nasser Al- Khelaifi is being investigated for alleged kidnapping and torture in his homeland Qatar. Three judges in Paris have been appointed in Paris to look over the allegations. The alleged kidnapping and torture of Franco-Algerian lobbyist Tayeb Benabderrahmane happened back in 2020, French outlet L’Equipe reported.

42-year-old Benabderrahmane claimed that he suffered kidnapping, torture and confinement, over a six-month period, due to his alleged possession of sensitive documents. First reports emerged in September last year, Benabderrahmane was allegedly kidnapped in Qatar around 2020, three months after he arrived in the middle eastern country.

He claimed that he was placed under house arrest, after months of torture and detainment. Benabderrahmane also claimed that he was allowed to leave in November after signing a confidentiality agreement about the non-disclosure of the sensitive documents in his possession. “We are very happy that the real file of this story is finally investigated by the French justice,” Benabderrahmane’s lawyers stated.

Paris Saint Germain chief Nasser Al- Khelaifi strongly denied the allegations placed on him about his involvement in the kidnapping and torture of Franco- Algerian businessman Tayeb Benabderrahmane, back in 2020. The 42 year claimed that he was detained and imprisoned for around nine months due to his possession of sensitive documents, which could compromise Al- Khelaifi.

The PSG President issued an official statement, strongly denying the allegations, “You are talking about professional criminals. They’ve changed their lawyers more times than they’ve changed their stories and their lies.” He claimed that the allegations against him were merely manipulations and stunts by the media. “It is the ultimate media manipulation. I’m just amazed so many people have taken their lies and contradictions as credible – but that’s the media world we’re in today. Justice will run its course – I don’t have time to talk about petty professional criminals.”

This is the second allegation related to the French club, with Paris Saint Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi being accused of alleged sexual assault on Monday. Al Khelaifi was previously investigated over the World Cup bid and his relationship with FIFA member Jerome Vackle as well, with the charges being dropped later on.
