PSG risks Champions League EXPULSION following Real Madrid man Kylian Mbappe’s claim that club owes him €55 million in wages

A new drama has taken flight regarding former PSG striker, Kylian Mbappe as French international has complained of unpaid wages and bonus. As reported by French newspaper, Le Monde, Mbappe has taken the matter to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) stating that a total sum of €55 million is due.
As per the aforementioned report, the amount which is due for Kylian Mbappe included three months (April, May and June) of the player’s salary alongside an ‘ethical bonus’ for the months. Apart from that, he is also owed the final third of the signing bonus of €36 million that should have been paid in February. The report also stated Mbappe launched a complaint with the legal committee of the French Professional Football League (LFP), citing article 259 of France’s professional football charter.
Wages must be paid by clubs to players under contract by the last day of each month at the latest, under the conditions of ordinary law.

Following the complaint, the matter was referred to UEFA via the French Football Federation. If PSG fails to comply with the regulations, they run a risk of being expelled from the hallowed UEFA Champions League as per the repercussions stated in the aforementioned charter. Kylian Mbappe started with a bang winning the UEFA Super Cup for Real Madrid but failed to impress in the La Liga opener against Mallorca, leaving fans angry.
A glance at PSG’s rollicking start to the latest season
The Parisians weren’t fazed by the departure of their key striker, Mbappe in the summer window. PSG started the latest season of Ligue 1 with a bang as they drubbed Le Havre by a staggering 4-1 margin. It was Lee Kang-in who opened the scoring for the Parisians while Gautier Lloris managed to restore parity in the 48th minute. However, Ousmane Dembele restored the lead for PSG in the 84th minute followed by Bradley Barcola and Randal Kolo Muani‘s brace that took the game away from the hosts.
They will be up against Montpellier in their next week clash and will be hopeful of keeping the momentum alive. The defending champions of Ligue 1 put up a sensational show in the last edition of the tournament, garnering 76 points on the back of 22 wins and 10 draws. Their nearest contender Monaco finished with a tally of 67 points on the back of 20 victories and seven draws.
