Paris Saint-Germain are Ligue 1 champions, again! While this comes off as no surprise whatsoever, Kylian Mbappe‘s 26 League goals and Luis Enrique‘s managerial prowess made it a figurative walk in the park for the Parisiens. As it stands, PSG secured the League title with a 3-3 draw against Le Havre at the Parc des Princes. Second placed AS Monaco are 12 points behind with 58 from 31 games.

While winning the Ligue 1 title is a significant achievement even for PSG, their packed squad and historical success in the competition makes it a trivial accolade for many. A quick look at the competition’s history shows that this is PSG’s ninth trophy in the last ten years! Overall, the Parisiens have lifted twelve Ligue 1 trophies, with the first one coming way back in 1986.

Mbappe is likely to finish the season as top scorer, having netted 26 times in 28 games. He has also set up another 7 goals for his teammates. In terms of assists, former FC Barcelona man Ousmane Dembele leads the charts with 8 from 25 outings.

Fans react to Paris Saint-Germain lifting the Ligue 1 title yet again

Death, taxes and PSG lifting yet another Ligue 1 title. The French giants have made it a habit of tasting success in Ligue for the majority of the last decade. Following their most recent trophy, several fans found it boring and repetitive that the League has the same winner every year. Comments like farmers’ League, boring League and tinpot trophy were thrown around in the air by many.

A fan commented that this was the last interesting news that had come out all season. Another joked that fans were pretending to be impressed just for the sake of it. A bold fan commented that nobody cares about their so called ‘achievement’. A few however, did praise Luis Enrique for his back-to-back titles with the club.

A funny comment read that this would’ve been news had any other team managed to win the title over PSG. However, while many made fun of Ligue 1, a fan pointed out how the Premier League too, is edging towards a similar situation. They were unimpressed that the same logic didn’t apply in England and pointed out the hypocrisy in this situation.
